So today guys I was reading some articles in the "New York Times" instead of reading a book. The reason I'm reading the "New York Times is because my father told me to do it. So today I will be talking about one articles that I read. The first one is about a disease called Cholera. I can give you the exact definition right now. Cholera means, "infection of the small intestine by some strains of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Symptoms may range from none, to mild, to severe. The classic symptom is large amounts of watery diarrhea that lasts a few days. Vomiting and muscle cramps may also occur.". So there you are.
The article that I am reading is talking about a plague that occurred because of Cholera. It all began in a town called "Rendel, Haita". Cholera was in this town before Hurricane Matthew struck it. Apparently this disease came from the mountains and then descended down into this town. A priest that lives there said that 90 percent of the people that used to live there left. Only 10% are remaining . There are two reasons why the 90% left. One is because of Cholera and the other is because people who have Cholera are trying to find a medic center. One sign of Cholera is vomiting.
Even the mayor of this town was taken to a medic because he had it. Another deputy died. Not to mention the hurricane that struck the town. All the houses and buildings have been crumbled to the ground or the walls have disappeared. Right after the Hurricane when people caught this disease everyone was leaving. One of the nurses at the medical center has said that a girl told the nurse she had diarrhea and that didn't mean she had Cholera. The sad part was that the girl was wrong. Even if she wasn't vomiting and only having diarrhea that still means she has a chance of getting it.
Unfortunately there is even worse news. If you have Cholera you can worsen your health and quicken the process by becoming unprepared and not having crucial items. You need to develop skills like boiling water or decent hygiene. If you don't it is sure that Cholera has a faster rate of overtaking you and your body. Now I'll talk about the nurses at the medic center. There is only one lantern in the whole area and the nurses have 12 hour shifts. One time so many people came that the medic center didn't have enough IVs to give to everyone.
For my last paragraph I'm sorry but I cant talk about the other articles because their is just too much information to go through this article. The 10% of people who are still in the town are praying that their relatives and neighbors will come back to help them. Until then they have to stay there and hope not catching the disease. Their are even chances of people who have Cholera to enter new cities and spread this disgusting virus. People have been saying the whole place looks like the end of the world. I know you don't want to get Cholera, do you?
