I know that I haven’t talked about “The Kane Chronicles” in a while but just yesterday I finished “The Sliver Eyes: Five Nights at Freddy’s”, and this was the only book left lying around. Anyway, I’m going to start off from where I left off last time. Ever since Sadie, Carter, and Zia freed Setne from his apparent death by Osiris (their father), Carter and Zia have been stuck with him, he’s supposed to be helping them find the book of Thoth. Meanwhile, Walt and Sadie are traveling to “Sais”, the place where Bus left his shadow, so that they can retrieve it and free Bes’s soul. If Sadie and Carter can do that then Bes will once again become the dwarf god everyone loves and help them on their journey to defeat Apophis by tonight. Sadie and Walt have just arrived at Sais and met Neith who is supposed to tell them where the shadow is.
However, Neith isn’t willing to help unless they play a little game of hide and seek. Walt and Sadie need to hide in the jungle while Neith waits for 5 minutes. Once the countdown is over she has to try and find them for a certain amount of time. Walt and Sadie waste two minutes trying to find a way to evade the goddess’s tracking skills. Eventually, they come up with the perfect plan, using the amulets that Walt made, they can teleport to the other person if someone is getting chased. Say Walt is getting chased by Neith, he can teleport to Sadie using the amulet right before he gets caught. This plan works out for them because eventually, the duo is able to win, but not just by using the amulets. Sadie distracted Neith (wasting time), by telling the goddess all about a so called monster that is related to gummy worms. Neith is certainly intrigued and soon enough the timer runs out making Sadie and Walt the winners.
Meanwhile, Zia and Carter are having a rough time dealing with Setne’s tricks. Setne takes them to “Cario” where he last remembers putting the Book of Thoth. In case you don’t know, the Book of Thoth is the key to destroying Apophis. The book has all of the spells and enchantments needed to imprison Apophis. And in ancient times Setne stole the book from Thoth and tried using it to become immortal. Unfortunately for him, it didn’t work out, the ghost was put into trail and was supposed to be executed multiple times. But every time, he used his magic to escape. Either fighting his way out or complimenting the executioner so much that he left the magician go. However, now that the fate of the world is at stake Setne is forced to help them find the book, but will he cooperate?
