There was once a girl named, “Astrid” that would always hang out with her friends. She never came home until after 11:00 P.M and her parents would get mad at her for it. This was because she was in high school now and was starting to become an adult. One day, her father (Jake) got mad at her and told her to stay home. Astrid got really mad and she started to have throw many tantrums around the house. Her mother (Sara) would feel bad for her since Jack was restricting her from a social life but knew that she couldn’t come home during midnight every day. Astrid decided to just text her friends and go on her phone more often since she couldn’t go outside to parties. Eventually, she got more and more distant from her usual friends since she couldn’t join them like she used to. And soon enough, they got another girl to replace Astrid in the group.
Astrid was now very depressed and couldn’t focus on her studies as well. Her teacher told her that if this kept up she wouldn’t graduate. Not to mention the fact that she was barely making it above average when she wasn’t depressed. Astrid blamed all of her problems on her father and the man started to regret his decision. Maybe he should’ve just left her alone. But inside, Jake knew that what he did was right. Astrid needed to grow up and start studying better. Jake asked Sara if she could talk to Astrid since he knew she wouldn’t listen to him. Sara happily said yes and walked over to Astrid’s room. The girl was sitting down on her bed and watched cat videos on Youtube. Sara, gently grabbed her phone and placed it on the nearest table.
Then, the two of them had a woman to woman conversation. Sara told Astrid about what she had to go through as a kid and that High School is the worst year. But if you can just work hard then everything would be in your grasp. Astrid decided to take her mother’s “life lesson” to the test and decided to actually study for her tests. For once in her life Astrid got her first A- and was super proud of herself. Sara and Jake were surprised with the results and celebrated the test grade. In the end, Astrid continued to work hard and follow her dreams. She passed all her grades and graduated. Before making a decision on which college to choose from her parents said they would support her choice and didn’t care for the cost. Astrid hugged the both of them and contained searching through the list of places to go.
