Facts about the Tyrannosaurus
The Tyrannosaurus is the most popular dinosaur around the ages. So far people have even given him a nickname which is so called T-Rex. Beside from being the Largest of the known carnivores it also has a hit in Jurassic park.
The Movie that all kids watch for Dino fun. It is also in the Museum of Natural History. The name of the Tyrannosaurus Rex means "King of the Tyrant Lizards".T-Rex was one of the Largest Carnivores to have ever exist. Coming to about 13 feet in height and 40 feet long. T-Rex weighed about 9 tons. The T-Rex also had strong thighs and a powerful tail.
The tail would counter back the large head. If T-Rex didn't have his tail he wouldn't be able to catch prey. In 2011 scientists had a theory that T-Rex could walk 10 to 25 miles. Sadly though all dinosaurs have a weakness and for T-Rex that was his puny arms. It was scientifically impossible for this dinosaur to use his arms in any way. Not to even touch his head!As you also may know......
T-Rex has the strongest bite force of any dinosaur ever to exist, 12,814 pounds of force or 57,000 newtons. T-Rex and a lot of serrated teeth for different reasons. One was to grind the bones while the other was to pull or grip the meat of the prey.
What did T-Rex Eat?
The T-Rex was a huge ferocious carnivore which mainly ate herbivores such as the Triceratops or Stegosaurus. It required food through scavenging and hunting. Just because T-Rex was a very strong Dino doesn't mean it and an easy life. If they were hungry they had to try to eat Carcasses or hunt themselves. It was very hard.
Scientists were not sure if the T-Rex hunted alone or if they hunted in packs. Scientists have seen many dinosaur tracks over the years that belong to the T-Rex and his relatives such as the Allosaurus and the Gorgosaurus. Many people suggest that the T-Rex hunted alone then in packs even though the relatives hunted in packs.
