Magic Tree House #22 Revolutionary war on Wednesday

It was 6 A.M in the morning. Mostly everyone was asleep. Soon Annie came into the room and woke him up. Jack opened his eyes and got up on his arms. Annie told him how Morgan said today was the time for the next mission on the note. They put on some clothing and sneaked past their parent's bedroom.

When Jack and Annie arrived at the Tree House they climbed the rope ladder and up they went. Their last mission was from the Civil war. It was about gathering a writing to follow. Now they needed to gather a writing to send. The book closest to the note was called the Revolutionary War. Jack and Annie knew that the last war was already scary but now they needed to go thorough another one. Annie wished she could go there. Out of nowhere a rush of cold air went past their bodies.

Jack was wearing woolen pants with a coat and a three pointed hat. His feet had had buckles on them. Annie was wearing a long coat over a long dress. The tree house had landed near an icy river. They both wondered what time of the day it was, If it was either day or night. Jack read from his book that over 200 years ago the thirteen colonies were ruled by Britain and the Patriots wanted independence and freedom, From 1775-1782. Annie and Jack saw some people in the distance. They were having a campfire. They both knew they were soldiers but which one? They both hid behind a bush.

Soon Annie didn't listen to Jack and ran toward a rock. She was 10 foot away from the campfire. Jack wanted to make sure Annie was safe and did the same thing. Annie and Jack were both having an argument and at one point she yelled "I am SERIOUS!"  Soon one of the soldiers knew something was wrong and the kids had to show themselves. Jack and Annie realized that they were speaking to the captain of the Patriots. One of the soldiers reported to the captain that it was time for something. The Captain told the rest and they marched off.

Jack and Annie both rushed off through the riverbank. While Jack was reading he found out that it was Christmas! Also that the Patriots were losing the war until suddenly they came up with a plan to make a surprise attack on the Britain. They would never suggest that the Patriots would be fighting a in a cold and deadly weather like this. The Commander in chief arrived and told his team that  they must never forget the words of Thomas Paine. Jack wondered who that guy was. He seemed very familiar. Finally he got it. He was George Washington.

While Jack was writing one of the soldiers came up to him and asked him what was he writing about. Jack replied with a nothing and then the soldier started chasing him. He outran the soldier but then a bright light shined on his face. It was another soldier. Soon enough he outran the other one as well. The captain was looking directly at him. He told Jack that if they lost this war it would give his children the courage to stand up and be free.

Now Jack wondered where Annie was. He saw her at one of the boats. The soldiers were rowing up and down. Annie didn't want to leave and wanted help George Washington with the mission but Jack told her she was crazy .It was already too late.

When they arrived at the other side of the shore George Washington noticed they were on the boat. He asked them how they got there and how they know about the secret mission.  Jack told them the poem from Thomas Paine and that cheered them all. It also gave them the courage to fight for their freedom and motivation. They took a boat back to the tree house and went off home.
