"Blessings"

In a place called Lhasa were many family and friends. One particular family was always happy. The mother and father were called Mrs. and Mr. Lobsang. In Lhasa they always had enough food and gave stuff to the poor. For example, food, clothing, and teaching. Yes, the family would always teach the poor how to write and read. Mrs. and Mr. Lobsang also had a child by the name of "Namgyal". Namgyal was always a curious boy who believed in blessings. Unfortunately his parents don't pray that often. There have been very few times where he was able to persuade them to do so, but for the most part they never did.

One day the family was outside enjoying themselves when they realized it was Summer. All the crops they had should have been nice and healthy. For some reason though, i wasn't they way they imagined. The whole family was astonished by what they saw. All the crops were either dried out or eaten by insects. No rain had come for a whole month and that affected the crops. With that said Mr. Lobsang couldn't go out and trade food. None of the people could, and Mrs. Lobsang couldn't make food for them to eat. It was bad luck for them and a sign. Namgyal knew it was.

However that same day was when the Dalai Lama was coming to Lhasa. He was going back to Lhasa because he heard of this terrible crisis. Namgyal must've been so happy while his parents weren't in the mood. When he told them they said "how is one blessing going to change everything Namgyal?" Mrs. Lobsang said. "Its going to work because the Dalai Lama is our spiritual leader and has the Bhudda along with him. I promise if we go then this problem will be fixed." Namgyal said. Mrs. Lobsang replied," you sure Namgyal?", "I'm positive".

So when the Dalai Lama came they were ready. They took out their Bhuddist Khata (traditional Tibetan scarf) and went to the special event. When the family arrived everyone else in Lhasa was before them. Seems Namgyal and his parents were late, luckily the Dalai Lama was still there. Finally the time had come. The three of them walked down the aisle and gave their Bhuddist Khatas to him. When that was done. He gave them the blessing and one of his special quotes, "This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."

After the event Namgyal gave one last goodbye to the Dalai Lama and headed to his parents. They felt happy inside and he knew that. "Now lets see how the crops are doing.", Namgyal said. The family walked all the way back to their house and were pleased to see that the crops were perfect and everything was great. There still was one more problem though. If this continuing Summer is the same as this one they have to move out of Lhasa. Thats why after 2 months the family packed up and moved to a place called "America" where they settled their new life.
