The Fourteenth Goldfish

For today’s post I want to tell you guys the new book that I’m reading starting today. It’s called, “The Fourteenth Goldfish”. I really like this book and for today I want to walk you through what I read so far. Before I start I don’t know what the cover of the book looks like because there is no picture, but I imagine its something related to a goldfish. In addition to that this is the only book I could find that had a story because me dad didn’t bring new library books.

“The Fourteenth Goldfish”

It all starts with a kid named ,“Ellie”. When sh was in preschool she had a teacher named, “Starlily”. “Starlily” would always tell the kids in her class to do what they were supposed to and made sure they learned how to sit still during snack time (I don’t get this rule because in my grade we move all the time during snack), sneezing on our elbows, and cleaning up after ourselves. One day before it was time for dismissal, “Starlily” gave all her thirteen students a goldfish. Then she emailed the parents telling them that it was supposed to teach them the meaning of life.

To Ellie the weird thing was that while all her classmates’s goldfish died, her’s didn’t. It puzzled her greatly, and the goldfish lasted until 4th grade. When she came back home she saw the goldfish upside down and called her mother. “It lasted for 7 years!”, she said. Then her mother admitted something to Ellie. The goldfish that she originally got from “Starlily” died two hours after she brough it home. Afterward Ellie’s mother constantly bought new fish every time one of them died.

As soon as Ellie learned everything she asked her mother if she could get a dog (I actually can’t believe that after learned her goldfish died a long time ago she wants another pet that will eventually die). Ellie’s mother said that a dog wouldn’t be possible because dogs needed all the space they could get and it was safe for a dog to be cramped up in such a small house. They barely had any backyard space.

Then after hearing her mother’s response Ellie went into the living room and worked on her puzzle. It was almost done and in total was 1000 pieces. While she was working on it her babysitter, “Nicole” came and asked her if she was still gonna keep on working on hat and Ellie replied with a yes. After a few minutes her mother got a call from a police department. When Ellie’s mother hung up she told Nicole and Ellie that Ellie’s grandfather was in the police department for something. Looks like your going to have to read the book to find out.
