Yesterday started and finished reading a book called, "Who is Bill Gates". It talks about a boy named Bill Gates who grew up to become a billionaire. But do you wanna know who he did. Well, let me explain how. Bill Gates was born October 28, 1955, (now 61) in Washington, Seattle. Bill's parents were very smart and educated, Bill's father was a successful lawyer and his mother was a school teacher. When Bill was 7 years old, he decided to read the entire "World Book"! Then, when he was 11 Bill entered a contest at his church to memorize the "Sermon on the Mount". Whoever perfectly recited this got to have a dinner at the famous Space Needle in Seattle! And of course, Bill won!
When Bill reached the 6th-grade school started to get boring. That's why his parents sent him to a private school called "Lakeside" when he was in 7th grade. Bill didn't know it, but this school would be the start of his computer career! One day Bill and his class were taken to the computer room at the school. Since the school couldn't afford to buy a huge computer that cost lots of money they bought the next best thing. A teletype machine, it was connected to the mainframe computer downtown with the telephone wire. That was when the teachers started to push buttons on a long spool of paper and the computer gave it an answer!
That was the start of Bill's fascination with computers. He started read manuals on the computer and spend any free time he had in the computer room. He even learned the language for "talking" to computers which were called "BASIC". With a few other boys at the school, the group started to teach their teachers about the computers! Now Bill found is life's focus, COMPUTERS! The group of six started their own club called the "Lakeside Programmers". Soon each of the boys was making their own programs for the computer. However, time for the computer at the school wasn't free. That was when a new company called "C-Cubed" (for short) came out they hired the boys to fix any flaws in their computers and in return were given access to their own computer!
Later on, Bill graduated from Lakeside and started to work with a man name, "Paul Allen". One day, Paul rushed over to BIll show him a poster that he found. "Popular Electronics, First mini-computer!". The boys were overly excited. They saw how the "Altair" was really good and wasn't even an actual computer. It was just the parts for a computer, the hardware. There was no screen or mouse to go along with the hardware. That's why Bill called the company (MITS) that made this "kit" and said he and Paul would create software for the "computer". When they agreed and wanted to see the finished product in one month Bill and Paul worked day and night to finish it.
From then on Paul and Bill were very successful with their work. Sooner or later Paul decided to leave Bill to do his own thing and Bill respected his decision. That was when Bill made his own company called, "Microsoft". At first it wasn't even a company but as time progressed so did Microsoft and in the end, it became very successful and still is. Bill created software for the computer called "Personal Computer" that IBM had created. The sales went off the roof and many companies started to make their own versions of the "MS-DOS"(software). From then on Bill created his own browser for Microsoft and married. He was also popular for being the "Richest Man on Earth". Many people loved him and eventually, he gave his company to a man named, "Warren Buffet".
