Even though for the most part today's post is going to be about Google News I still want to mention that I just finished reading, "Trails of Apollo: The Burning Maze". This is the third installment of the series and I really enjoyed it, but then again I enjoyed all of them. However, something I despise is how the 4th book in the series is coming in the Fall of 2019! That is so far away from right now! I'll probably forget about this book once that comes out. However, that doesn't mean I don't understand that most books for kids at my age and up take a while to write because they supposed to be at a certain reading level and enjoyable for the reader at the same time. I guess I'll have to keep a mental or literal note with me so I don't forget about the "Trials of Apollo" series. Just to let you know I might be doing a summary of this book next weekend so stay tuned.

So remember when I talked about the "Texas Shooting" yesterday? Well, the "suspect" killer has confessed and he is actually 17 years of age instead of 16. The kid is named, Dimitrios Pagourtzis (cool name) and he killed 10 people int he shooting. Thirteen were injured so that is unfortunate, but thankfully he was the only person who was part of this act to shoot up the school. That means no one else was with him or planned it all out, or at least that's what we think. The kid was supposed to be bailed by some (most likely parents), but the judge denied the bail because of what he heard at the "hearing". "The kid is being held on two charges, capital murder, and aggravated assault". I don't understand what "Aggravated assault means". Does it mean he targeted someone specific? Or if it isn't that the same definition as "capital murder"?
"Schools are spending billions on high-tech security. But are students any safer?", is the same of the next story. Just immediately off the bat, I don't think that schools would spend billions on high tech security. Unless of course, the word "schools" means a large number of districts. Otherwise, I doubt one school would spend a million dollars for high tech security. That's a bit too much in my opinion. Because of the Texas shooting a lot of schools are now taking even more precautions ever since the "SanFrancisco Shooting". One particular principal of a school in Haverhill, Massachusetts pleaded the state government to go ahead and install state of the art security in the school. He goes by a quote, "The more the better". In most cases that's good but for now, that seems really extra.
Apparently, the "device" that he persuaded the school department to purchase was a network that "identifies the sound of gunfire and alerts police and administrators". This "creation" was made by a company called, "Shooter Detection Systems" and it costs exactly $70,000! That is beyond crazy! I know for a fact the only thing my school has ever asked for that is more than $70,000 are trailers and new building. The principal says he took the opportunity and applied the system. According to the same story after the SanFrancisco Shooting", the same school that got shot up in Texas put up its own security procedures. They even had their own police officer district and wanted all the parents to know it was okay. And obviously, it wasn't because the shooting took place and 10 people died.
I guess that calls for even more "protection" and funding from the government. This last paragraph is going to be about the royal wedding that took place yesterday for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan. My dad showed me a clip of this and I thought only one thing, "Why can't this happen to me?". Just kidding, that was my dad... It was the first time I thought a wedding was cool, but that was more so because of the royal guards that were there to protect the prince and "princess". I just realized, what would happen if someone shot Prince Harry and his wife? Okay, that came out really wrong. I just wonder, though. Would they immediately recieve the death penalty or have like a 100 years in prison? Let me knew what you think down below.
