Yesterday I was informed of something really scary. There was a shooting at Newport Mall and a couple of my friends were there. I don't know why the shooting happened but it occurred on the top floor (food court). I was notified about this because my mom made my sister and I download an app on our phones called, "Citizen", this app makes it so that every incident that is reported will be notified onto our phones, at least in our area. I was looking at the details and it was talking about how there were 2 victims that were injured but thankfully not life threatening, and a third one that was not confirmed as of yet.
Something that I wonder is whether or not the people in the move theaters even hard what was happening. I saw on an Instagram post today that one of my friends who was there recorded a video of people screaming and one guy saying I'm outta here!". It was funny because of the way the guy said it but I know that it has a deeper meaning. I can't believe that that with the amount of shots that I heard on a video about this how no one died. It just seems unbelievable to me. One of my friends posted a video of either himself or someone else's perspective of being at the mall when this happened.
He used the video to represent being funny because it was the same one that said, "I'm outta here!". And it showed a dude running down the food court and at the end of the food court he edited it so it said 2019. I also thought it was pretty funny but know what actually happened. On the Citizen app there is a section here people who have downloaded the app can talk about what happened and I checked it out as soon as I got the notification. There was a ton of people talking about where they were in Newport Mall and even some folks hating out together.
Obviously this was not the intention of the Citizen app to let people who downloaded it using their cheating service as a place to make friends. But I was kind of concerned, one of my pals who I was playing an online video game with said that he was concerned when I told him because a couple of his buddies were at the mall or said they were planning on going there. I think that this was really terrifying for him so I calmed him with a few soothing words until eventually we forgot about the whole thing.
This is all of the information that I have on this topic but let me mention something else. A couple of weeks ago one of my friends made a story on Instagram reporting a missing girl who used to go to our school the year before. Apparently, her mother was really worried for and that is why she asked my friend to spread the news. This was the same girl who tried to kill herself in the year before that. It was attempted but thankfully the police stopped her, I just thought this was a coincidence and hopefully she's okay.
