Yesterday I went with my mom, aunt, and sister to Newport Mall because we were going to celebrate the last days before school started in January. We watched two movies each. The first one for me was Bumble Bee. It's this movie that is related to the Transformer's series. I was calmly watching it when my watch started beeping. At first I didn't realize it because the movie was pretty loud but it just so happens that the couple next to me did. Now, the wife who was actually right next to me asked if I could turn the alarm off and when I finally heard the sound I did but the husband who was next to her started cursing at me.
He told me to "Can you shut the fuck up" in a pretty standard voice where no one besides us three could hear. So I turned it off and then then started cussing quite a bit, but only to the point where is wife could hear and not him. Otherwise this guy would probably get up and make a scene in the theater. A couple of minutes later, my watch makes the same noise and I still couldn't hear it, but somehow the couple did and the guy started cursing at me again, you best believe I told him a thing or two before his wife shut him up and went outside to tell the people working at the movie theater.
They came in and asked if I could turn off my watch so it doesn't make the noise and unfortunately, I had tell them that I didn't know how to turn the thing off (and just a side note: my watch only ever makes these type of noises during 8:00 and 8:30). So you can probably imagine the bad timing. I should've never brought it in the first place but for some reason the watch gives me a sense of self security. Anyways, the bad thing about telling them that I didn't know how to turn it off was that it made me look like a complete loser. I would've loved to smack that guys face.
I made my decision, I went outside of the movie theater and I asked the guy who was letting people in with their movie tickets to hold my watch for me (like to just put it on the podium). He didn't have a problem as long as I came back for it and with that I hurried back to the movie so I wouldn't miss any parts. Believe me, it pissed me off that the workers didn't know the actually story but as long as I got the opportunity to continue watching the movie I was good. It was pretty awkward when I came back because they were looking at me all weirdly but I just ignored them and finished the movie.
This experience was definitely uncomfortable for me and I was for some reason expecting an apology once the movie was over but they just walked right past me, it really got me mad. This guy was like 30 years old, and he's trying to start a fight with a 13 year old in the middle of watching a movie where almost all the seats are filled with bystanders. This was honestly crazy, I know I may have started it but he definitely and without a doubt escalated the situation.
