One day with Mother at Chuck E cheese

Dear readers
It's been long time I haven't posted anything. Today once again I am going to tell you a final day before back to school.

Today I am going to tell you all about my amazing day with family outside for fun. It was at 6:00 A.M when I finally realized that today was going to be amazing. The day started pretty awesome. I sat down on couch watching cartoons  and played games with iPod for 4 hours. Then we had cereal with double chocolate for breakfast. Soon I my mom told me that we were going to visit Chuck E. Cheese.

My little sister was very scared. The reason was that I showed her how Chuck E. Cheese [mascot of the place] was dangerous. I went on youtube and pressed the search button. From there I wrote The truth about Chuck E. Cheese. It showed a bunch of Creepy-pastas about Chuck E. Cheese being even and killing a bunch of workers and teenagers. My sister was so spooked out that she backed away from the screen and also ran to my mother.

The  tale was about 6 teenagers getting murdered every continuos day. Right after was day seven. A teenager wanted a job to get money for a car. That night he found a Chuck E. Cheese that stated they needed a new employee. As soon as the boy asked for the job they quickly responded with a yes. The teenager was shocked to see that he didn't get an interview.

The next day he arrived at work. The manager said that he needed to clean the robots on stage. The boy didn't know why they would need cleaning. They were all shining and gleam ready. He did it anyway. Finally he went to the last robot. It was Chucky. This one definitely needed cleaning. As he was cleaning the robot he felt the arms. It felt like it was alive for some reason. That made the teenager back away. Every night the boy slept he was dreaming about Chucky and every night when it was 3 A.M he could here chuckling and laughing. He eventually wanted know what it was so he just looked out the window. Their stood a man who was particularly tall. The boy couldn't see what his physical appearances were  because they were  being was blocked by the shadow of the night.

The next day at his lunch break one of the employees told him something. He told him "get out,Get out while you still can!"The boy did not know why the employee was saying that. He knew that was kinda reasonable considering the fact that the manager hired anyone who wanted a job. Through the nights the boy heard another sound of laughter coming much closer to him. Much more closer. He thought he saw a figure of a human being in the corner of his bedroom.

The day after, the manager asked the boy to look at the robots for the day. The teenager was confused but did what had to be done. It was 10:00 and the boy finally knew that he must leave. As he walked to the door the lights were beginning to shut off. The manager must have been they're closing up. That night he saw what looked like a human being again. Soon the boy the boy ended a voicemail saying that he must quit because the job was creeping him out. Soon a person was calling him in his phone he declined the call. Later he found out the person who tried to call him sent a voicemail. He thought that maybe it was important so he listened to the voicemail. It was the manager. He  was saying sorry and that it wasn't his fault. The creature was going to end the world forever so that is why they need people to come. In order to be eaten by the beast. Your employment will not be forgotten. Chucky will come.

Soon enough the picture was clear.  That was why the employee told him to get out while he still could. By now the figure of the being came closer. IT WAS CHUCKY! The teenager dropped the phone. Chucky opened his mouth as wide as he would and laughed. The boy had no choice. The only way to live was if he jumped out. Their was no choice. Soon the creature was in the room while the teenager was alive.
THE END

Thats the end of my horrifying experience. Good Day and remember, next time you go to Chucky Cheese remember to always watch your back at night and always remember that Chucky will remember you forever!!

Poems

"A Snake" By Rinchen

A is for Anaconda for it cannot stand,
It will trample foreigners who intrude its land,
And though it is tiny it strong as bear,
For one day it will find you give you a fearsome stare,
Fast and cool like an Ocean's Plateau,
Yet it still has eyes waiting for you,
So remember next time you come,
The Anaconda will be there and turn you into scum.

"The Sea"

What do you see?
Is it a cool ocean breeze?
Because if it is,
I want in it please,
For the penguins will come and catch some fish,
And we are left with nothing but a bit,
This Ocean is lucky,
It is like my old friend Bucky,
So many qualities,
And so many memories,
So the next time you come go for a swim,
Because next we meet I will be as clean as the sky,
And even though I don't soar,
I feel it in you.

"The Freedom We Have"

What do we have?
Freedom we have!
Think of the rest,
who don't have any,
and be grateful for your freedom because it is what you need,
Without Freedom you wouldn't be able to soar through the trees,
I love Freedom,
It gives you joy,
Like Slavery,
Who saved it?
Abraham Lincoln!

Happy Day

Dear Diary
It is a very beautiful day today. Outside sunny and warm and my father didn't go to work he stays with us home. However, today I wanted to write few things about yesterday. My day went like this:

Yesterday I woke up to the sound of raindrops thumping on the window. I saw that it was actually 8:20. Usually I would wake up at 7:00 or 6:00 but 8:20 was the latest. My sister was still sleeping as usual. I woke her up and told her it was time for breakfast. The sky was really dark. It didn't look like anybody would be outside.

Since we ran out of chocolate cereal I had to go downstairs to the basement to get some. The cereal was Mini Wheats. I ate a lot but my sister only ate 3 of them and left the other 4 in the plate. I ate all of mine though. Later on my father called me. He said that it was already 10:00 and I still hadn't started my homework! I told him I was going to start and I didn't lie.

I read the whole book from start to finish. It was actually pretty funny. [Check out "I'm A Scaredy Mouse!"] I did a whole page in under 2 hours! Don't think its easy. The words were very tiny. When my father came he was very proud. He didn't even change anything I wrote! That was a relief. I didn't like it when people change my writing because then it feels like they did it instead of me.

In case you haven't read it the story. It is about Geronimo Stilton's ancient ancestor trying to get a baby dinosaur back to its herd with the help of his family. The baby dinosaur's name was cyclone and he looked really tall!

I started playing Tanki Online. The most popular Browser game in the whole world from America to Germany and even Europe. If you like destroying things or explosions then this is the game for you.  You can customize your tank and even battle with other people online.

Another game that I played is called Alpha war. It is a online military game in real time so that everything that happens in the game will be the exact time the player does something like make a base or capture a base. Maybe even make more units. It is also a chatting game in which you can talk to other players around the world. Just like Tanki online.

I decided that I had enough and I wanted to go to the Park. At the park I met one of my mom's friends. I also saw my best friends who were very good at soccer. Just like me. We played so much we forgot about everyone else. I scored 3 goals in a row! My friends each scored 2 or 3 as well. None of us scored 4. I also play Freeze tag and Party tag. When the park was closing I showed my

I'm A Scaredy-Mouse!

Geronimo loved the Summer Breeze. He wanted this summer to be quiet and peaceful. He would mostly read stories. This story is about Geronimo's ancient ancestor from the stone age.  One day when Geronimo was relaxing Trap threw a ball toward him.  Trap told him that he should get off the court. While Geronimo was leaving Trap dove into the river and splashed Geronimo with water.

Soon he headed toward the Forest where he found a perfect spot to rest. Just as he was about to close his eyes a shadow covered him. He wondered if it was a T-Rex or an Allosaurus. Instead it was a dark cloud piercing through the sky. When he returned to the home they rented Geronimo noticed something. It was a BABY DINOSAUR!  The 4 of them knew that they had to rescue the poor creature. Thea, Benjamin, Trap and Geronimo threw a rope for the dinosaur to bite and they pulled. Trap almost gave up until Geronimo said they were making Chocolate Fondue for dinner. That gave Trap enough energy to make one last pull. The dinosaur was on Shore. Hooray!

The baby dinosaur was very large. Soon the 4 mice found out that the name was Cyclone. That was the baby dinosaur's name. For some reason Geronimo had a bad feeling about this. Cyclone hugged all 4 of them. Benjamin said hooray!

Soon Thea,Trap and Geronimo realized why he was called Cyclone. He acted just like one! He ate mostly all of the food and drooled on almost everything.  He might even be able to eat anything. The dinosaur was also very powerful. They didn't know where he got all that energy from. Now all of them had enough. When Thea was trying to get on his back and stop him Cyclone though it was like a rodeo and kept on playing.

The next day Benjamin set some ground rules to the dinosaur. I guess not even the kid's smile and lecture had worked. Cyclone would still pound on stuff and break trees. Soon Cyclone was having so much fun that he bashed every tree he could find and broke the house. The homeowner told Geronimo that they had to leave and pay for all the damage.

Thea and Trap went back to Mouse City to sleep while Benjamin and Cyclone slept in the cave with Geronimo. The next day the leader of Mouse City woke Geronimo up. She said that the baby dinosaur was creating destruction and despair to the town. So either the dinosaur leaves or Geronimo leaves.

The 3 mice found Benjamin and Cyclone near the port. Benjamin said that Cyclone misses his home and wants to go back. Thea knew what to do. Trap couldn't help because he had to help clean the Salsa party in the city. It was up to Thea,Geronimo and Benjamin to bring Cyclone home.

In just a few steps Geronimo was tired. Cyclone bonged every tree he could see. One of them was snoring. Cyclone thought it was curious. So he banged the tree. Out fell two Saber tooth Tigers. The were the mortal enemies of the Mice. But they were frightened by Cyclone. They ran away.

While they were searching the forest they came across a very old tree. It was the tallest one there was. A strange noise came from the tree. A bunch of bees headed straight toward them. They ran as fast as they could. Finally they outran the bees and the itching died down. They knew why it was called Scritch Scratch Forest.

While the family was sleeping they heard a noise. It was a pack of Mosquitos! But they weren't stinging at all. They were just singing!

Soon on a sunny day they saw a  herd of Fluffy Bison. They were dangerous and fluffy creatures who can attack you. Don't get tricked by there fluffy coating.

Cyclone saved Geronimo by taking the brown blanket and making it look like one of the bison so that they will never notice.

By the time they reached the river Cyclone was starting to recognize the place and what it was. He headed straight forward and until finally he saw his herd! The were already super close to Mouse City.

They saw the herd.  They were huge dinosaurs small and tall. Soon Geronimo thought that the dinosaurs might think they had kidnapped Cyclone. One very pink dinosaur looked at them. She saw Cyclone and they wagged their tails but then she looked back at them. Geronimo was closing his eyes and getting prepared to be stomped but they smiled. The mice and the dinosaurs were friends after all! They had a huge party in honor for Cyclone to be back home.

While the mice were getting a ride back to the city they saw a pack of Saber Tooth tiger through the gateway. the herd saw the tigers and ran straight toward them. They beta the Tigers so much that they gave up. The dinosaurs had saved Mouse City!

Th Leader was outrageous. She was so angry that her head looked like it was about to explode.  Soon one of the dinosaurs tried trowing a rock on her head. She forgot why she was angry! But then she remembered again. When she called the dinosaurs beasts that on of them got angry and he stood straight toward her. The leader was so scared she made an exception and then the dinosaurs helped rebuild Mouse City. THE END

2 Tibetan Tales By Rinchen Sangpo

An Everlasting Friendship
Long ago in the Village of Tibet lived a young monk named Tsultrim. He was a very caring monk and he was also the village teacher. He would teach people meditation. On his free time he would go walk through the forest greeting all of the animals. One day while he was strolling across the Elegant forest he came across a bleed deer. It had an archery bow on its lung. Tsultrim knew that if he removed the bow from the dear's lung it would die. He thought fast and immediately carried the deer back to the village.  There he gently removed the bow while soaking up all of the blood so it wouldn't flood on the ground. The dear was back to a healthy condition! Over the years the two friends had bonded a connection that could not be broken. One day the monk died. It was a sad day but the deer knew what he had to do. He joined with his family back in the forest and sheltered. He knew that was what the monk would have wanted him to do.

The Queen's Mistake

One day there was a rich Queen named Lhuma. She was very elegant and she had a maid servant named Jampa. The two were the best of friends. One day Lhuma asked Jampa if she would get her the ripest apple in the royal garden. When she returned Jampa was cutting the apple. The knife kinda slipped over her and and cut half of the Queen's thumb. Jampa was put to prison for eternity. That very same day Lhamu went into the royal garden and looked around. Soon three demons came out of nowhere and grabbed her. They said they have been waiting for a human for years. They would bring her to the Underworld. Soon though the demon saw that she had a half finger cut. They knew the human wasn't a full human and wouldn't be as tasty so they threw her and left. Lhumba thanked Jampa for cutting her finger in the first place. Jampa also thanked Lhamu for putting her in jail because if she didn't Jampa would've been taken to the Underworld instead.

Magic Tree House #22 Revolutionary war on Wednesday

It was 6 A.M in the morning. Mostly everyone was asleep. Soon Annie came into the room and woke him up. Jack opened his eyes and got up on his arms. Annie told him how Morgan said today was the time for the next mission on the note. They put on some clothing and sneaked past their parent's bedroom.

When Jack and Annie arrived at the Tree House they climbed the rope ladder and up they went. Their last mission was from the Civil war. It was about gathering a writing to follow. Now they needed to gather a writing to send. The book closest to the note was called the Revolutionary War. Jack and Annie knew that the last war was already scary but now they needed to go thorough another one. Annie wished she could go there. Out of nowhere a rush of cold air went past their bodies.

Jack was wearing woolen pants with a coat and a three pointed hat. His feet had had buckles on them. Annie was wearing a long coat over a long dress. The tree house had landed near an icy river. They both wondered what time of the day it was, If it was either day or night. Jack read from his book that over 200 years ago the thirteen colonies were ruled by Britain and the Patriots wanted independence and freedom, From 1775-1782. Annie and Jack saw some people in the distance. They were having a campfire. They both knew they were soldiers but which one? They both hid behind a bush.

Soon Annie didn't listen to Jack and ran toward a rock. She was 10 foot away from the campfire. Jack wanted to make sure Annie was safe and did the same thing. Annie and Jack were both having an argument and at one point she yelled "I am SERIOUS!"  Soon one of the soldiers knew something was wrong and the kids had to show themselves. Jack and Annie realized that they were speaking to the captain of the Patriots. One of the soldiers reported to the captain that it was time for something. The Captain told the rest and they marched off.

Jack and Annie both rushed off through the riverbank. While Jack was reading he found out that it was Christmas! Also that the Patriots were losing the war until suddenly they came up with a plan to make a surprise attack on the Britain. They would never suggest that the Patriots would be fighting a in a cold and deadly weather like this. The Commander in chief arrived and told his team that  they must never forget the words of Thomas Paine. Jack wondered who that guy was. He seemed very familiar. Finally he got it. He was George Washington.

While Jack was writing one of the soldiers came up to him and asked him what was he writing about. Jack replied with a nothing and then the soldier started chasing him. He outran the soldier but then a bright light shined on his face. It was another soldier. Soon enough he outran the other one as well. The captain was looking directly at him. He told Jack that if they lost this war it would give his children the courage to stand up and be free.

Now Jack wondered where Annie was. He saw her at one of the boats. The soldiers were rowing up and down. Annie didn't want to leave and wanted help George Washington with the mission but Jack told her she was crazy .It was already too late.

When they arrived at the other side of the shore George Washington noticed they were on the boat. He asked them how they got there and how they know about the secret mission.  Jack told them the poem from Thomas Paine and that cheered them all. It also gave them the courage to fight for their freedom and motivation. They took a boat back to the tree house and went off home.

Drastic Day

Today was a very drastic day. I woke up to the heat of the pillow on my father's bed. Later on when I was waiting for my mom to take us to Newport Mall. The point was that we were going to watch this really cool movie. At first my mom said that the movie was bad because I had to watch it in 3D. I thought about it and knew that the movie would not be good if I watched it in Red and Blue. If it was Red and Blue I wouldn't be able to see all of the good parts in full color.

So I said fine then even though I still wanted to watch it. I started getting a fuse and becoming really mad. I even went to the second floor expecting them to come down as well and leave but they didn't. I went back upstairs and couldn't see them. When I went down I saw them at the top again. After several times of constantly going up and down I found them. My mom asked me if I wanted to actually see the movies. I replied with a yes and from there I got to watch a new series of PIXELS.

Pixels Is mostly an arcading game for kids and parents as well. A group of the World's finest gamers from the government have come to help save the world from video games. Every time the Aliens won a battle they would take a human as a trophy but every time the humans won they would get one of the video game characters as a trophy.

When I entered the movie Stage I saw that the 3D glasses weren't really 3D at all. They were blank. Not Red or BlueI saw Centipede and Pac-man along with Donkey Kong! He was the Leader. The coolest character to me was Eddie. He cheated on all the games against Pac-Man and his Rival.  I guess that means that he wasn't a good gamer after all. After the movies my mother gave me some money to play some games.

I met a friend and I also ate some noodles with Orange chicken. Later on I finally got to go to the library. There I read my Magic Tree house book. Soon enough my mother renewed her library card back to use and I also wanted to use the computers in order to do this blog. I couldn't because every person needed their own Library card.

I borrowed my friend's card and when I put the name of the blog guess what happened. I saw a picture of a monk from England and the same name. I played with my friend some Tanki Online. I also played Miragine war and Tank wars. When my father came to pick us up from the Library I thought he wouldn't be happy but he seemed in a very state of the art happy. I did this blog with no shame or guilt.

Tale of the Rainbow Crow

The Rainbow Crow- An Old Lenni Lenape Legend

Once upon a time in the ancient past the snow spirit came to Earth for the first time. She glanced upon the all of the land and sent winter into action. Many of the animals were delighted to see this snow but as the days went past and the snow piled up the animals regretted loving the snow. Food became scarce. Finally the animals thought they had enough.

All of them gathered in the center of the forest to have a meeting. The leader was bear. He said that one of the animals should go up to the heavens to talk to the creator. There they would tell him the snow was to deep for comfort and that they wanted spring back. The first one to volunteer was wolf. He said that since he was faster then anybody he could be the one to talk to the creator. But Bear disagreed because the everyone knew the creator was above them all living in a beautiful sky palace.

The next one to volunteer was the Eagle. He boasted about his bravery and his strength but Bear still shook his head. He did have all of the proper qualities except that his voice was the best of them all.

Soon Owl volunteered. She was the best night flier and she was quiet but too quiet. The creator would never listen to her.

Finally Rainbow Crow gazed at bear and told him that since she had a beautiful voice. In addition she also had beautiful colors on his feathers. All of the animals agreed. Even Bear. Rainbow Crow flew all the way to the palace for days and nights. When she finally arrive the Creator was too busy. Crow never really cared. She had a plan up her sleeve. She sang with beauty and elegance. When she was done the Creator looked at her and told her that they had never heard such beauty. For that song the Creator gave her a chance to do any wish she wanted.

Crow told him that the snow was too powerful for all of us and that food would be scarce. The creator said that he couldn't just bring Spring immediately. But there was a harder way. The creator grabbed a stick and mad fire on it. It was a torch! That way Crow could bring it down to the Earth and burn the snow away.

While he was flying down the torch got on his feathers and he was on fire. He was kinda like a Phoenix. When he was all the way his friends had already set up the branches to make the forest fire melt the snow. But the fire burned Crow's throat and he turned the color black. The creator told Crow of all the good things of losing those qualities. Since he couldn't sing he wouldn't be taken and put in a cage to sing or since his meat was rotten he walnut be eaten and finally the creator gave Rainbow Crow his colors back.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet

Brief Biography

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, describes himself as a simple Buddhist monk. He is the spiritual leader of Tibet. He was born on 6 July 1935, to a farming family, in a small hamlet located in Taktser, Amdo, northeastern Tibet. At the very young age of two, the child who was named Lhamo Dhondup at that time, was recognized as the reincarnation of the previous 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso.

The Dalai Lamas are believed to be manifestations of Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion and the patron saint of Tibet. Bodhisattvas are believed to be enlightened beings who have postponed their own nirvana and chosen to take rebirth in order to serve humanity.

Education in Tibet
Democratization Process

His Holiness began his monastic education at the age of six. The curriculum consisted of five major and five minor subjects. The major subjects were logic, Tibetan art and culture, Sanskrit, medicine, and Buddhist philosophy which was further divided into a further five categories: Prajnaparimita, the perfection of wisdom; Madhyamika, the philosophy of the middle Way; Vinaya, the canon of monastic discipline; Abidharma, metaphysics; and Pramana, logic and epistemology. The five minor subjects were poetry, music and drama, astrology, composition and phrasing, and synonyms. At 23, His Holiness sat for his final examination in Lhasa’s Jokhang Temple, during the annual Monlam (prayer) Festival in 1959. He passed with honors and was awarded the Geshe Lharampa degree, the highest-level degree, equivalent to a doctorate of Buddhist philosophy.

Leadership Responsibilities

In 1950 His Holiness was called upon to assume full political power after China's invasion of Tibet in 1949/50. In 1954, he went to Beijing for peace talks with Mao Zedong and other Chinese leaders, including Deng Xiaoping and Chou Enlai. But finally, in 1959, with the brutal suppression of the Tibetan national uprising in Lhasa by Chinese troops, His Holiness was forced to escape into exile. Since then he has been living in Dharamsala, northern India.

Since the Chinese invasion, the Central Tibetan Administration led by His Holiness appealed to the United Nations on the question of Tibet. The General Assembly adopted three resolutions on Tibet in 1959, 1961 and 1965.

In 1963, His Holiness presented a draft democratic constitution for Tibet that was followed by a number of reforms to democratize the Tibetan administrative set-up. The new democratic constitution promulgated as a result of this reform was named "The Charter of Tibetans in Exile". The charter enshrines freedom of speech, belief, assembly and movement. It also provides detailed guidelines on the functioning of the Tibetan Administration with respect to those living in exile.

In 1992, the Central Tibetan Administration issued guidelines for the constitution of a future, free Tibet. The guidelines outlined that when Tibet became free the immediate task would be to set up an interim government whose first responsibility will be to elect a constitutional assembly to frame and adopt Tibet's democratic constitution. His Holiness also stated that he hoped that Tibet, comprising of the three traditional provinces of U-Tsang, Amdo and Kham, would be federal and democratic.

In May 1990, the reforms called for by His Holiness saw the realization of a truly democratic administration in exile for the Tibetan community. The Tibetan Cabinet (Kashag), which till then had been appointed by His Holiness, was dissolved along with the Tenth Assembly of the Tibetan People's Deputies (Tibetan parliament in exile). In the same year, exile Tibetans on the Indian sub-continent and in more than 33 other countries elected 46 members to the expanded Eleventh Tibetan Assembly on a one-man one-vote basis. The Assembly, in its turn, elected the new members of the cabinet.

In September 2001, a further major step in democratization was taken when the Tibetan electorate directly elected the Kalon Tripa, the senior-most minister of the Cabinet. The Kalon Tripa in turn appointed his own cabinet who had to be approved by the Tibetan Assembly. In Tibet's long history, this was the first time that the people elected the political leadership of Tibet. Since the direct election of the Kalon Tripa, the system of the institution of Gaden Phodrang of the Dalai Lama as both the spiritual and temporal authority ended. Since then, His Holiness described himself as being semi-retired.

Peace Initiatives

On 21 September 1987 in his address to members of the United States Congress in Washington, DC, His Holiness proposed a Five-Point Peace Plan for Tibet as the first step towards a peaceful solution to the worsening situation in Tibet. The peace plan contained five basic components:
  1. Transformation of the whole of Tibet into a zone of peace.
  2. Abandonment of China's population transfer policy that threatens the very existence of the Tibetans as a people.
  3. Respect for the Tibetan people's fundamental human rights and democratic freedoms.
  4. Restoration and protection of Tibet's natural environment and the abandonment of China's use of Tibet for the production of nuclear weapons and dumping of nuclear waste.
  5. Commencement of earnest negotiations on the future status of Tibet and of relations between the Tibetan and Chinese peoples.
On 15 June 1988 in an address to members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, His Holiness made another detailed proposal elaborating on the last point of the Five-Point Peace Plan. He proposed talks between the Chinese and Tibetans leading to a self-governing democratic political entity for all three provinces of Tibet. This entity would be in association with the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Government would continue to remain responsible for Tibet's foreign policy and defence.

Universal Recognition

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a man of peace. In 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He has consistently advocated policies of non-violence, even in the face of extreme aggression. He also became the first Nobel Laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems.

His Holiness has travelled to more than 67 countries spanning 6 continents. He has received over 150 awards, honorary doctorates, prizes, etc., in recognition of his message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion.  He has also authored or co-authored more than 110 books.

His Holiness has held dialogues with heads of different religions and participated in many events promoting inter-religious harmony and understanding.

Since the mid-1980’s, His Holiness has begun a dialogue with modern scientists, mainly in the fields of psychology, neurobiology, quantum physics and cosmology. This has led to a historic collaboration between Buddhist monks and world-renowned scientists in trying to help individuals achieve peace of mind. This has also led to the introduction of modern science in the traditional curriculum of Tibetan monastic institutions re-established in exile.

Political Retirement

On 14 March 2011 His Holiness sent a letter to the Assembly of Tibetan People's Deputies (Tibetan Parliament in exile) requesting them to devolve him of his temporal (political) power. According to The Charter of the Tibetans in Exile, His Holiness was technically still considered to be the head of state. The historic announcement would bring an end to the dual spiritual and political authority of the Dalai Lama and revert to the previous tradition of the first four Dalai Lamas being only the spiritual leader of Tibet. The democratically elected leadership would assume complete formal political leadership of Tibet. The Ganden Phodrang, the institution of the Dalai Lamas, would continue and remain intact.

On 29 May 2011 His Holiness signed into law the formal transfer of his temporal power to the democratically elected leader. This brought to an end the 368-year old tradition of the Dalai Lamas being both spiritual and temporal head of Tibet.

The Future

As far back as 1969, His Holiness has made clear that concerned people should decide whether the Dalai Lama’s reincarnations should continue in the future. However, in the absence of clear guidelines, should the concerned public express a strong wish for the Dalai Lamas to continue, there is an obvious risk of vested political interests misusing the reincarnation system to fulfill their own political agenda. Therefore, on 24 September 2011, clear guidelines were drawn up to recognize the next Dalai Lama, so that there is no room for doubt or deception.

His Holiness has stated that when he is about ninety he will consult the high Lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions, the Tibetan public, and other concerned people who follow Tibetan Buddhism, and re-evaluate whether the institution of the Dalai Lama should continue or not. On that basis, a decision will be made. If it is decided that the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama should continue and there is a need for the Fifteenth Dalai Lama to be recognized, responsibility for doing so will primarily rest on the concerned officers of the Dalai Lama’s Gaden Phodrang Trust. They should consult the various heads of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions and the reliable oath-bound Dharma Protectors who are linked inseparably to the lineage of the Dalai Lamas. They should seek advice and direction from these concerned beings and carry out the procedures of search and recognition in accordance with past tradition. His Holiness would leave clear written instructions about this.
