Pablo Picasso

What would you think if I said to you "Modern Art"? Pablo Picasso! If he never existed art you see today would never be the same. He was a very lucky man, living through two world wars, the invention of electricity, telephones, radios, TV, movies, automobiles, and of course airplanes. As many things in the world were changing so did he. He created many works of art. Collages, sculptures, paintings, costumes and many more. In all his life people have said he made a total of 50,000 different types of art. Who knows were he got the energy and will to do that? I mean I probably couldn't even do fifty.
October 25, 1881, was the day for a new artist to rise, Pablo Picasso. He was born by the two parents, Jose Blasco (father) and Maria Lopez (mother). Jose was actually an artist himself. Later on in life when Pablo Picasso got older his father realized he was a better artist than him. Thats why he quit making art and gave his son all his paints and brushes. When this happened Pablo's whole family moved to Barcelona where are the artists were gathering. At Barcelona he was excepted to a local art school even though he was only 14.

Pablo decided he wanted to go Paris because of the World's Fair. One of his old friends Carles went with him. As they headed  toward their apartment both of them realized they had no money. Thats when Pablo said something "We are in Paris!". Over the days Pablo was able to sell some of his bullfighting pastels which was really encouraging, but Carles wasn't. His girlfriend broke up with him.

This caused the two of them to move back to their hometown. After a while Carles moved back to Paris. He was at ht point where he wanted to get revenge. Carlos tried to shoot his ex-girlfriend, but instead shot himself. This caused Pablo to go into his sad period where everything he drew was in shades of blue. This period may have also been called the "Blue Period". One of the paintings he made was called "The old guitarist". Many people did not like it and wondered what happened.

Later Pablo went back to his normal health and shape. No stress for him. He married a woman named Fernande, but had no children. The other reason he was happy was because he went back to paris and remembered all the color in the cities which gave his paintings meaning. After a while he also became friends with a man named Braque. Both of them had the same view of art and were almost like brothers. They created a new sense of art, Cubism. Cubism is when you look at one angle and paint, then you switch to another angle and draw again. Its weird work of art, but people started liking it.

After a while bad stuff happened again. A war was taking place between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. It was called "World War 1". The archduke of Austria was killed by a citizen of Serbia. Germany joined Austria-Hungary so all the work that was being held in his German friend's shop was confiscated. Russia backed Serbia and Germany declared war on Russia and France. Even the United States was involved. Pablo and his family weren't safe so they moved to Rome, Italy. Where it was safe. After the war Pablo's family moved back to Paris. American Soldiers came through Paris because they wanted to see The Eiffel Tower and Pablo Picasso. Pablo gladly showed his studio, but some of the men there sleept overnight. It was recorded to be 20!

Later on in Pablo's life he married another woman named "Jaqueline". This was the last woman he met before he died and of course he was eighty years old! I guess Pablo Picasso was a real lady's man. Did you know that in total Picasso actually has married 7 women and broke up with six of them. Jaqueline was the woman he didn't break up with. I guess he had to keep on searching.  In total he's also had 4 children. One of the many paintings he has made that I love is called "Guernica".
