Thomas Alva Edison

Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847, on a winter night. He was born in Milan, Ohio. The parents Nancy and Samuel had three other children besides little Thomas. He was the most curious one out of them all. overtime he would try to experiment new things, some of which were just plain stupid. One time he asked a neighbor girl to drink from a cup of worms and see if she would fly. I can't even think about it.

One day Thomas had got a Scarlet fever while he was looking at the boats from a 100 foot tower. Thats why his hearing was so bad. He was often accused of purposely not listening to the teacher at school and that angered Nancy. Thats why she dropped him out of school and home schooled hime. He was fascinated by books when he started getting home schooled and learned about telegraphy. He learned about Morse Code as well. He tried it with his friend. Thats where it all started.

When Thomas was old enough or Tom he arrived in New York. Many people knew of him a san amazing inventor and had no trouble finding a job. Later on he and another worker decided to make a business together. They were both good at making machines so they created the "Universal Stock Printer". Both of them sold it for $30,000. With this money they started a company. Thomas found a large building in Newark. It was called "Newark Telegraph Works".

At this time Thomas created the electric Pen. After a while there was a man named Alexander Grahambell who created the first telephone. Many telegraph companies were angry because the telephone could replace the telegraph. Thomas then thought of something new. The Phonograph. He hired his best worker to create a model out of his sketch. The Phonograph was supposed to record videos and play it back for you. He had to take a risk though. A group of people wanted to see it for themselves and Thomas showed them. He just didn't know if it would work. It did!

While Thomas was working in one of his inventions his workers or "boys" were going to see the eclipse. They wondered if he wanted to come. Of course Thomas said yes because he wanted to test his invention. While they were taking the train his worker informed him about a man in Connecticut that was able to fully light up 8 arc lights or a sort of lightbulb. Thomas bragged on and on about how he was going to make a better one.

Thomas heard people accusing him of bragging and not actually making it. He wanted to prove them wrong. Thats why he worked day and night util he found the perfect material for it. It took him more than a year until he finally found it, "simple sewing thread baked to just the right moment. Finally his lightbulb glowed, but he had to make all the lights in Newark lit so that took him a lot more time. When he finally did make it everyone was impressed. Almost the whole part of Newark was full of lights everywhere! This is what hard work gives you........ Thomas married a women  named Mina Miller until he died of diabetes and other diseases.

Like he always said "Genius is one% inspiration and ninety-nine % perspiration".
