Neil Armstrong

I'm sure most of you know who Neil Armstrong is right? Well do you know what he did since childhood. I'm going to tell you. Neil Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930 in Ohio. He was living in his grandparent's house. His family had two other children, Dean and June. He was the oldest out of the three kids of, Stephen and Viola Armstrong. I hoping you guys know whose which gender. Viola Armstrong stayed home taking care of the children while Stephen was part of the Ohio State government.  Their hometown was called Wapakoneta. Ever since Neil was 3 he started loving planes. He was obsessed with them. I bet if he was part of the U.S  army at that age he would know every single airplane's name, but Neil knew knowing about them wasn't the same as taking flight.

Neil was determined to take fly. Their was an airfield called Port Koneta close by. As a teenager he take part in small jobs to get enough money for flying lessons. One of his part time jobs was working at a doughnut company. The only reason he got hired was because he was small enough to fit inside and clean the dough mixer. At "Blume High School" Neil was not the best student, but he was still above average. His mother made it so he knew music just as well as his flying dreams.  After high school he wanted to go to a University. Thats why the Navy offered him the scholarship to go to Purdue University" and in return he becomes part of the army. Neil Armstrong was sure to say yes.

After two years at Purdue University he was sent to the Navy. Neil got to fly an airplane and be part of the army! Some people may say he was a lucky man. When the bombing of Korea was finished Neil went back to the University and finished the rest of his classes. While he was there Neil married a woman named "Janet Shearon". He wanted to be a test pilot and try out knew planes while also telling them what to fix. Janet unbelievably agreed to go to California with Neil even though her year at Purdue was not over.

There Neil and Janet wanted to have a family of their own. Thats why they both had two children, Eric and Karen. Wrote Eric first because he was born the same order.  One day Karen fell down and knocked her head on the sidewalk. Thats caused her to be cross-eyed and for some reason also have cancer. She died on a Sunday morning in January.  Eric was still alive though. A week after Neil made a decision that would change his life. He applied to become an Astronaut. Neil thought if he took up a new challenge that would make him forget about the sad death of Karen.

On July 16, 1961, Neil Armstrong and 2 other men in the picture above, Micheal Collins and Buzz Aldrin, put on their suits and helmets. Then they walk all the way to their space craft "Columbia" and blast off into the moon. When the approach the moon Neil realizes the landing spot that NASA has instructed was too rocky. Thats why he moves to a much safer location just before "Columbia" runs out of fuel. As they get off "Columbia" and set foot not he moon they realize this moment will be remembered as one of America's greatest accomplishments. The astronauts collected the moon rocks and set the American flag as the first to ever set foot. Neil said "Thats one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind".
