Before Tony went into the school for his first day his mom told him that they were lucky he even got into the school. Apparently a student left the seventh grade (Coincidence?) and that spot was given to Tony. At the entrance of the school Tony saw a tall woman in the center. She looked like she was waiting for him so he met her. Apparently she was the dean of the school or principle. The name was Ms. Foxton. After introducing themselves the two of them headed to Ms. Foxton’s office where they talked about the important school rules and sports. Such as how Tony needed to select a sport later on the year and that the school had many clubs.
Before Tony left the office Ms. Foxton told him if he ever needed anything her door was always open. In addition to that she actually showed Tony his classroom and new homeroom teacher. The teacher was called Mr. Batalie and the Social Studies teacher was called Mr. Boker. Talk about male representation.
After Ms. Foxton left Tony was told to sit in a desk between a boy and a girl named Jessica. As he was walking to his new seat Tony saw the same boy that was in the tower the day before sitting in it. However he disappeared and Tony continued on.
During recess Tony sat with some kids on a table inside the cafeteria (in the basement). They talked about how they were the cool kids and Jessica was one of the losers. However one of them did talk about how pretty she was. Peter (one of the kids at the table) said if Jessica wasn’t the weirdest kid in the school she would have been the most popular. Along with her friends. Then right after recess ended Jessica walked up to Tony and asked about what they said. He told her everything and she replied by saying in a proper manner, “you should pick our club, its called the “Weird History Club”.
Unfortunately for her Tony decided to listen to Peter’s group because he didn’t wanted a “loser” reputation at the “Penda School”. After school before he headed home he met up with the most popular kid in school, Ryan Walker. He talked about how he was the leader of the newspaper club and would really appreciate Tony’s help. That got Tony thinking he should join their club, but then thought about Jessica’s club, “The Weird History Club”. He wondered, “What do they even do at that club?”.
When Tony got home he walked the slackline because usually that was what cheered him up. However he wasn’t focused because of the boy. He remembered how the boy was sitting in his chair before he got to it. He also definitely wasn’t part of the class because Mr. Batalie showed Tony the class wall. Apparently under each picture on the wall someone could sign and saw a compliment about that person. However they had to put their name next to the statement. Three people signed Tony’s picture. This is exactly what they wrote, “Your very interesting, Jessica” was the first one and the second said “I’m glad your in our class, Lilly”. The weird thing was that the third comment said, “ I need to talk to you.” and didn’t have any name. Something mysterious was happening at “Penda School”.
