I've decided to write about this new book called, "Number the Stars". It is written by "Lois Lowry" who I know is a very popular author. This book also has the "Newbery Medal" just like "Kira-Kira". Speaking of "Kira-Kira" I really wanted to write about this book because it seems more interesting. However, I will wrap up the story for you right now. Basically, the whole family learns that the disease Lynn has is called, "Anemia". Even though it is not fatal, she has another unidentified sickness that can cause death. Soon Katie's mother gives birth to a third child and he is named, "Sammy". Unfortunately, even though Sammy doesn't die he gets caught in a bear trap. This incident will lead to many more events like how Katie's father smashes the front of Mr. Lyndon's car who is the owner of both the factory he works in the bear trap.

Eventually, the father loses his job but works at another factory not owned by Mr. Lyndon. Lynn dies while unattended so Katie and her family start mourning. But they find her diary which in it is her will. Lynn gives, all the money she had to her parents and allows Katie to use her dictionary for school purposes. After a whole funeral and more sobbing, the family starts getting happier and go on vacation to California. The reason this destination is picked is that Katie knew Lynn always wanted to go to California and see the sea. It would be great for her to witness Lynn's dream and hopefully let her see it too (spiritually). So the whole family arrives in California and Katie feels like crying knowing this was the one thing her sister wanted to do before dying.

I know, the story is really sad (just so you know I didn't cry). Now its time for "Number the Stars". The book starts off with an introduction for Lois Lowry. Apparently, she had made the original book 20 years after publishing this one. She then explains how the main character is a ten-year-old girl and that is the age kids "develop a strong sense of personal ethics" (quoted from the book). I honestly don't know what that means entirely but assume it has something to do with the passion for reading. Anyway, let's talk about the actual book here. The story begins with "Annemarie" (the main character) and her best friend "Ellen". The two are walking down the street when Annemarie tells Ellen they should have a race.

Ellen is against the idea but before she can change Annemarie's mind she starts running. The two friends run fast leaving behind Annemarie's sister whose named is "Kirsti". Suddenly, as Annemarie turns the corner she is stopped by two German soldiers. They ask her numerous questions about what she's doing and if she is smart in school. After their done playing with her, all three of the girls walk back to their apartment. Ellen says goodbye to Annemarie before entering her room and the two other girls (Annemarie and Kirsti) walk up the set of stairs to their parents. Kirsti starts telling her parents about what happened and Annemarie tries to make it sound like no big deal. Unfortunately, she knows her parents were worried about her and stays quiet.

Google News

This isn't really a story with information except about an update for my 2nd favorite game on the year, "Fortnite"! They added a new update where the map looks different. It seems a lot more realistic then before. Instead of just light green everywhere they've added dark green, brown, and yellow in some places so you can identifiy them easier. Thats what iI like about the game, they are constantly adding new updates every week to make they're game extremely popular. The funny thing is, Fortnite isn't even an actual game yet, its a beta. Yet they have over 40 million people who have downloaded their game. Back in their first month it was only 1.6 million. This shows how amazing and popular the Fortnite fanbase is (and I'm in it too)!
