I just finished a book called, "Kira-Kira" that I started yesterday. I really enjoyed the plot and how the book wasn't hard to read. It was interesting, had a "beginning, middle, and end", and was easy to understand what was happening. The author is named, "Cynthia Kadohata" and she is a Japenese-American. In total, she has 10 other books made, but only one of them had gotten a medal. Cynthia Kadohata was born on July 2, 1956. "Kira-Kira" has gotten not only the "Newbery Medal" but numerous positive reviews. For instance, this one from the "San Diego Union-Tribune", "An unforgettable story". I'm assuming this comment is a good one because if it wasn't why would it be on the front cover?

Now it is time to continue summarizing the book from yesterday. Just so you know, yesterday I read an extra 1 hour worth of pages in addition to the reading because I had nothing to do. That was why I was able to finish the book today! Let's get started continuing this summary. After the event of the camping trip with Lynn and her "friend" Amber Katie's father's schedule had changed. This caused both sisters to see him even less than before. Now they can only see their mother, and she only comes home to sleep and then go back to the factory. One day, Katie's mother told Katie to come with her because there was no one available for babysitting while she was at work. Instead, Katie would just have to wait for her mother in the car.

While waiting Katie saw a man holding the hand of a girl her age walk to the factory. Before moving back into the car to continue sleeping the girl saw her and headed over to the window. Since her mother told her to never be rude Katie opened the window and said hi. The two talked about what roles their parents took part in the factory and why they were there. Eventually, the two became best friends and Katie was very happy. The girl's nickname was "Silly" so that's what she called her. When Katie's mother came back she told her about the girl. However, her mother wouldn't have it and ignored Katie while driving back to their house. While driving her mother looked at all the houses and wondered which one they should get after having enough money.

As the two opened the door to come inside they were surprised that Lynn was in her bed sleeping. Katie woke her up and they talked about why she was at home. Apparently, Lynn was at Amber's house but started to get really sick. Amber's mother decided to take Lynn back home out of niceness or because she didn't want her daughter to get sick as well. These were one of the days that Lynn was in a bad mood so no one disturbed her. Instead, Katie's uncle and his family played "Scrabble" in the living room. He invited Katie to join them, since she couldn't be rude Katie reluctantly accepted. After a few weeks, Lynn and Katie's parents announced they had found a house that was cheap enough to buy and would dedicate it to Lynn because she was sick.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the summary of the book so tomorrow I will continue it (and hopefully finish it). For today's story, it is related to something called, "Patient Dumping". A man named, "Imamu Baraka" had to post a video regarding one patient who was allegedly "dumped" by the hospital she was being taken cared for. I don't know the full story but the man who filmed the video is against patients being kicked out of hospitals just because they don't have enough money for pay or insurance. It seems unfair to do that to a patient who needs help and needs it fast! Especially if that patient has a mental illness as shown in the video. The woman was taken outside of the hospital and put on a bus stop in 30-degree weather! This is simply an outrage! Someone has to do something about this and I doubt it will be Donald Trump!
