Today was by far the best out of this week! Two really cool things happened and both at the same time! But we do have to start at the beginning so just wait a little bit. When I woke up there was an annoying sound. You guessed it, the alarm clock! After turning it off my sister and I walked downstairs to get ready for school. It took me about 40 minutes before I got everything ready. There was this letter I was writing yesterday to my teacher. Apparently, a field trip is happening tomorrow and I really want to go, however, you have to "apply" or write a letter before doing so. Today I just finished adding some details in between. to give it that extra boost. By the time I finished the letter it was 8:01 A.M so I rushed to my bus stop.
Because no one was there I knew I wasn't late. The first thing I did was sit on a small staircase that was connected to a closed store. Then, I grabbed one of my notebooks from my backpack. This is because my teacher announced yesterday of a "Gifted and Talented" class. And just like the field trip you have to write a letter stating why you want and should be a part of the class. Back when I was in 4th grade (first year of Beloved Community Charter School) my grades were good enough for me to get into the class. Unlike now I didn't have to write a letter, one day a woman just pulled me out my class and told me I was eligible to enroll.
Unfortunately, ever since 4th grade, they didn't have it anymore. Either that or my grades just weren't good enough that I never heard about it. Good thing I finished it before the bus came because I can't write while on the bus. It moves too much and bounces a lot. Something that happened while on the bus was a traffic jam. While the bus driver was driving she was forced to move straight even though the next kid was on the right. This was because the police were having a funeral for a dead lieutenant. I just went to Google News and checked this story out. Apparently, the name of the man was, "Christopher Robateau" and was a 23 veteran of the Jersey City Police Department.
Christopher Robateau was hit my truck while getting out of his car. That must not have felt good for him... The reason for the traffic jam is because the police were taking his body to a funeral where all his family members, friends, and colleagues were waiting. Because of this "funeral", it took an extra 20 minutes just to get to school. The only problem I had was breakfast since I forgot to eat back at home. However, I got through the day just fine. For the first period, I had Science. It was mostly just completing the outline and reading some more textbook pages. No test, quiz, or anything that can really hurt my grade. Unless you count homework which I finished a few minutes ago.
I would do Google News right now but technically I already wrote about it. You know, the police officer and why there was a traffic jam? Another reason I'm not talking about Google News is that I still need to talk about the "amazing" things that happened today. In case you haven't noticed I mentioned it already. Anyway, after Science was P.E and my class continued on Basketball drills. Thankfully, today they let us go outside for recess because it wasn't as cold as before. I really enjoyed going outside instead of staying in the building and constantly sitting down. Did you know sitting down all the time is not healthy? Now I'm going to skip to the "amazing part". After dinner was over my teacher announced who got into gifted and talented, it was me! Eight people applied and only 5 could enter so I was really happy! The other good thing was that I was accepted and able to go to the field trip tomorrow! That is it for today's post.
