I've decided that for today's post I'm going to continue and hopefully finish my summary of "Sarny". I know that yesterday I fast forwarded to the ending but left out a lot of things in between. Anyway, let's begin, Miss Laura, Sarny, the coachman, and Lucy had finally reached New Orleans. At first, Sarny felt like finding her children would be impossible. However, Miss Laura reassured her that it would a piece of cake. Apparently, she knew the man who had her children. When all four of them reached Miss Laura's house they walked inside, Sarny and Lucy were shocked by what they saw. There were bathrooms and bedrooms, almost 10 rooms in all! Sarny felt as though she was in a paradise. Miss Laura was pleased by her reactions and let them take a shower in her bathroom. The next day they would be learning about how to help with both the house and Laura.

The next day Sarny and Lucy were waking up, the coachman who introduced himself as, "Bartlett" showed each of them what their jobs would be like. Sarny would make the food and get groceries at the town market. Lucy would be kepping the house clean and doing the laundry. Bartlett showed Sarny how to make boiled eggs and bread. It took a while but once she finally got the breakfast right Bartlett took the food to Miss Laura. Then the two of them rushed to the market and started getting groceries. Bartlett told Sarny that everyone in the market knew who Miss Laura was so there was no need to pay for the food. According to Bartlett, Miss Laura pays everyone they get food from at the end of the month. While getting food from one of the sellers the man in charge said his name was, "Stanley".

Sarny at the time wasn't that interested and just continued talking about a reasonable price for the catfish he was selling. Eventually, the two of them walked back to the house and Miss Laura explained the plan. She was going to have a party and invited the man who had her children over. Then, the two of them would talk and hopefully, he would give back Sarny's offspring. Turns out, the man with the kids wasn't bad at all. He bought it off Waller so that the two of them would be safe until the war ended. Miss Laura thanked him and they said goodbye to each other. Sarny was so happy and showed her love to her two children. For some reason, they weren't exactly in tears but I could tell they were just as sad (in some way not mentioned the book). Sarny still needed to continue working so she put them to bed and kept serving drinks to the guests.

Once it was all over Miss Laura got some books for Sarny and her children to read. This was because Sarny wanted her two children to be educated. Soon enough, she knew how to do fractions and the children weren't that far behind. However, Sarny knew there were other black kids who didn't know about the stuff they did. So with the help of Miss Laura, she created a school where they could allow a certain amount of kids to learn math and literature. In the first few days, over 100 people applied, unfortunately, she couldn't take that many of them. Thankfully, some of the kids and adults who she taught became a teacher themselves the started working with Sarny. The school was going really well and Sarny was happy to be able to spread her knowledge with the world.

Google News

In case you didn't read yesterday's post- Miss Laura died, she gave all of her money to Bartlett, Lucy, and Sarny, Sarny made more and more schools for black children. A lot of crazy things happened, some of the whats up top and how Stanley was married to Sarny but then died later on due to murder. Anyway, now its time for me to do google news. For today's story, we are going to be talking about the snow! Apparently, this is the biggest amount of snow in NYC (New York City) ever recorded! Before this, the highest was 27 inches. Now it's over 30 inches! That is a crazy amount! As I look out my house right now tit doesn't seem that big. Then again, New York is still a pretty big distance away. That's why there wasn't any school today! That is it for todya's post!
