Today was the last day of PARCC and I was really happy once done with it. A few of the kids next to me said the last test was easy and I agree. Unlike, the other 2 units this one was fairly good. I didn't take more than 20 minutes on a question and finished 30 minutes before the timer was over. Once I finished taking the test one of the adults took my scrap paper and headphones from my desk. The rest of my time was spent practicing my typing speed. I would try and write everyone in my class's name before one minute ended. I actually was able to do it 2 out of the three tries. One reason was that the one try I didn't get it was also my first attempt. Anyway, completing really lightened my "mood" for the rest of the day. Math was particularly fun because I understood the lesson really fast. That's mainly because it was easy...
But let me start from the beginning, the first period was ELA because my Social Studies was on a field trip with the 6th graders. The poem my class was supposed to answer questions about was called, "America". I'm pretty sure the narrator was either an immigrant or black slave that had just been freed. My reasoning behind this is because the protagonist makes it seem like America is such a struggle. Now, people who have lived in America for a while know that isn't true because they have been able to withstand a healthy lifestyle. The narrator says she likes the challenges America has in store for her and thinks it's a test of her youth. That keyword "youth" makes it seem like a slave who has been recently slaved or an immigrant.
Enough about that, Community Circle was the next period and I was racking up Classdojo points by the number. Remember when I used to talk about "ClassDojo"? It's that revolves around a point system. Basically, the school decided that the top 7 seventh graders from each class will get to go on this field trip to a University. There was actually one before this but I didn't have enough points. It was to the Google Trip.If I was to go to a University or "Google Incorporated" up in New York it would be Google! I just searched up the university and it's almost a 2 to 3-hour drive! What I was trying to say is that I have the most points in my class so going to this field trip is obvious. I'm just mad that they changed the date from this Wednesday (today) to next Wednesday!
At Community Circle, the 7th-grade classrooms were doing student of the month. I thought that was pretty cool to do it now and even told my friend it was definitely me. However, my teacher called a different name. It was "Amy Rameriz", she is an amazing dancer and is fairly quiet if I'm saying it. But that is just to Mr. Correa and her, to students she doesn't seem to have a problem with anything. Apparently, her birthday was last week and also the same day as the previous Community Circle. Unfortunately, the period was running out and the teachers couldn't give out the awards. It would have been the perfect birthday gift for her. I personally think I deserve this award, however, I'm usually really quiet towards the teacher so I don't "stand out" compared to other students.
Google News
There is a post that I read regarding the Chinese dress "Qipao". It's a traditional dress that nowadays most people don't bother to wear. It's mainly worn on special events so always good to have one in your closet. There was a woman named, "Ms. Daum" that was going to her prom dress. There she wore the traditional Chinese dress. The only problem with people was that she wasn't "Chinese". Instead, the woman is American (I have nothing against this). She posted 4 pictures on her prom night and many Asian American people started getting mad at her for wearing something not her culture. I think this is silly and so did the people in China. One Beijing reporter said that the Chinese people were actually rpoud to ahve their culture recognized by Americans. They said it themselves, so all those Asian Americans that wrote that were just plain mean and wanting of attention (not me).
