I wasn't expecting to do this today but apparently, my father is going to return the library books tomorrow. And because of that, I need to finish summarizing the books that I have already read. And unfortunately, "Trials of Apollo: Burning Maze" is one of those books that need to be returned. So that is what today's post is going to be about. It's, of course, a "New York Times Bestseller" like every other book I know of. I'm pretty sure every book made by a popular author like "Rick Riordan" or "James Patterson" is going to be a New York Times Bestseller". Just to let you know there were 2 other books before this so this one right now is the sequel to those. I've already done a summary of both of those books so now it's time for this one to have its turn. Before I start I just want to say that you should read my other posts summarizing the other two books before this if you haven't already.
So, at the very beginning Apollo starts complaining about how this is the absolute worst part of his journey to find the oracles and restore them before turning back into a god by Zeus. He says that he is going to tell this whole tale to us the readers because he knows that is what Zeus would want him to and from there it begins. Him, Meg, and Grover are in the "Labyrinth" and trying to find a way out and into Palm Springs. Palm Springs is an area that Grover is supposed to take them, this place will let them rest and relax for their journey to defeat the next emperor or member of the Triumvirate, a group of men who have risen up to make there name spoken of throughout the entire world, that is the only way they can live. Once people start to forget about them their bodies will start fading away until nothing is left. Thankfully for them, the internet has arrived so now all people have to do is type their name and BOOM, a whole list of information.
Anywayway, while in the labyrinth Apollo starts reminding them just how long they've been in the labyrinth and Grover says in response that they are almost there. The group finally see a little entrance or ladder that leads up to a sinkhole. However, a group of "Strixes" or falying monsters are chasing them. Apollo tries to think of something smart, however, he can't find anything and has to rely on Grover and Meg's powers to distract the fierce birds. Finally, after many attempts Grover let's out a loud scream that made the Strixes turn around and head back to their little caves. The three of them head up the ladder and arrive in Palm Springs. There, Grover introduces Meg and Apollo to the nature spirits who have been waiting for them. One of the nature spirits helps Apollo and Meg get healed while Grovers starts asking questions about the other spirits who have set off to find the oracle.
Apparently, none of them have returned and they were hoping that he had the answer to their worries. One of the nature spirits was worried that her husband was missing. She asked Grover if he could help find him and of course, the satyr couldn't say no. Apollo stood in disbelief seeing the look in Grover's eyes. The satyr's eyes were super red, in fact, his whole body looked sleepy! That is why Apollo volunteered to accompany Grover in his mission. Although it did not take long the journey was horrifying due to the burning weather, of course, Grover couldn't feel it because he is technically a part of nature but Apollo was sweating like crazy, and to think he was the sun god before being turned into a human. Grover knew that the woman's husband was supposed to be finding weapons so the two of them headed towards the artillery store.
Once they were inside Apollo and Grover immediately found the husband. He was driving around a cart filled with all types of rocket launchers and ammo. The duo was able to convince him that the number of weapons he had was enough to defend all of Palm Springs, and so they headed towards the cashier. But upon arriving there the man asked Apollo if he was the sun god. Apollo knew that he shouldn't say yes but because of his giant ego, he had to take pride. And so because of that, the man started firing guns at them. He was a servant to Caligula and if he brought Apollo to the emperor the servant would be ranked higher and more valuable to his master. And now the three of them were running away. What do you think happened next?
