The Three Musketeers (Project, Classic Book Groups)

Chapter 36,
Miliday waits for D'Artagnan to arrive at her house but unfortunately for her, he never comes, Soon enough, Milady sends D'Artagnan an invitation to come to her house so that the two of them can have a little chat together, D'Artagnan knows that it would be rude to not accept this letter and also knows he was planning for her to invite him this whole time, Once the two of them are in the same house and room Milady starts to cry or at least pretends to cry, She tricked D'Artagnan into falling in love with her one more time and so the man admits his true love for her and spills everything out, he waits for her reply (hoping she will say she loves him back) until suddenly Milady wants to know how far his love is for her, she tests him and says he needs to kill "Comte De Wardes", D'Artagnan vows to kill him and then leaves knowing he needs to be careful.

Chapter 37,
D'Artagnan goes back to his house to make sense of the situation he had put himself into, He knows that he is madly in love with Milady but wants her to feel "pain" at the same time, at 11:00 the protagonist arrives back at Milady's house and they make out with each other, once they are done Milady continuously asks D'Artagnan whether he is ready to fight Comte de Wardes but the mans tries to avoid the conversation, however, Milady is persistent and keeps pushing on with questions, hoping to get answers, D'Artagnan knows that fighting Comte de Wardes is impossible simply because he's fake and then question's Milady's love for him since she seems to not care if he dies, then D'Artagnan says he was Comte De Wardes and runs out the building.

Chapter 38,
D'Artagnan immediately runs to the closest person's house he knows of and finds Athos, suddenly it gets awkward because Milady is Athos's wife but they are still friends, Athos announces that he will be leaving to "La Rochelle" and sends his servant to find D'Artagnan some clothes since he ran out of Milady's room naked, finally Aramis who is another musketeers comes to join them and Kitty finds all three of the men, she explains of what happened to Milady and how she is running away from her, Kitty expresses her love towards D'Artagnan but he seems unfased, the three men sell Athos's ring to make some money for the horses needed to head to "La Rochelle", everoyne is ready for a fight and a journey.

Chapter 39,
Soon enough, Planchet arrives with two letters. One is anonymous and declares D'Artagnan to meet at a certain place at a specific time, the second letter is an invite from the Cardinal and D'Artagnan already knows he can't refuse this invitation, the first letter and second letter but seem highly suspicious to him, Athos, and Aramis so they take reinforcements with them, D'Artagnan finally arrives at the place of the first letter and waits for a carriage that was supposedly supposed to arrive, his friends think that this letter must've been made by a woman and hide waiting for someone to come, suddenly a carraige walks past that has Madam Bonacieux in it, D'Artagnan knows he wants to follow it but cannot for the Cardinal waits for him.

Chapter 40, 
When D'Artagnan arrives at the King's palace he and the Cardinal talk to each other about his past and family, the Cardinal is already informed about how he lost his letter of introduction to Monsieur Treville long ago, then he states that D'Artagnan is both "intelligent" and "courageous", finally the Cardinal heads straight to the point and offers D'Artagnan to join him and his men, D'Artagnan refuses trying not to be mean and says he is already appointed as part of the Musketeers in the king's army, D'Artagnan tells Porthos, Aramis, and Athos of how he refused the invitation they all rejoiced and had a feast, however, later that night Athos explains that it may have been a mistake but doesn't go into further detail,
