Finally, Friday has come and I am finally able to go ahead and start the weekend! Today was an average Friday which you know is only ruined because of Spanish. Because of that, I'm going to pretend that today was perfect and skip Spanish! Anyway, let's start off at the very beginning. After waking up my sister and I walked downstairs (I took a 5-minute rest) and began changing our clothes. My aunt came upstairs and helped dropped my sister to her bus stop. At 8:01 A.M I left the house and jogged over to my stop. There, the bus still wouldn't have come for another 10 minutes. While on the bus I read my school book called, "Dark is Rising" because my class had a quiz. Fortunately, for me when I got to school we had a substitute!

Let me explain when I walked into the classroom 4 other kids were there quietly getting ready for the day. I decided not to ruin the silence and eat some breakfast. The breakfast given to me by the school was a muffin, pear, orange juice, and carton of white milk. I don't like pears and the muffin at school isn't good at all (in my opinion). That's why all I had was the carton of milk and orange juice. Apparently, Mr. Correa and Ms. Marti (my teachers) are absent and the weirdest thing is that there absent at the same time. Maybe their both something together that involves school or maybe I'm just crazy (probably crazy). The first period was Technology and I gladly got in line to go to the computer lab. My friends and I decided to play "Shell Shock 2" again because "Bullet Force was getting old.

It was a pretty fun class and I walked to Dance happily. Because Ms. Marti was absent my class had a Dance substitute. We were supposed to start off doing warmups and then head into a group project. Basically, there were supposed to be groups of 6 to 5 each and you had to do create an African dance that had 30 moves. I did not enjoy this as much as Technology because there was a lot of arguing based on who would join the group. Since one the people that were definitely going to be part of the group was my friend he convinced everyone else that I could join. Though they wouldn't let me join unless I showed them my moves. So I did the whole African Dance in front of them and they saw how I was able to get farther than most of the other people.

This last paragraph will be a skim of the day, however, I've decided to skip the lunch and dinner part because all I did was eat food. ELA was the next two periods and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure it wasn't the best class because all I did was assignments (because there was a sub) but I finished them and they will hopefully impact my grade in a good way. Science was just doing some questions on pages in the textbook. The only reason it wasn't boring was that I received 2 class dojo points. In case you don't know what class dojo is let me explain. Class Dojo is a website that allows teachers to give their students points for good and bad behavior. Its way for a student to see how good he or she was that certain time period. When I say time period I mean in a course of a week or month.

Google News

Just in case you don't know, I have posts dating back to fifth grade where I used to use Class Dojo. This story is made by "Danielle Paquette", she's not really important but I thought you should know either way. The story is called, "The Economy added 200,000 jobs in January". As you can already guess the rate of unemployent is steadily dropping because of Donald Trump. Though this isn't good, it only seems like it. I have a cnospiracy theory, Donald Trump treats America like its his company. That is the only reason there are more jobs. But with that being said he cares about almost nothing that involves no ecomic gain for America. I mean think about it, him and North Korean president "Kim Jong Un" (haven't said his name in a while). Both leaders are very well known for agressive attitude and also both disliked. Something's happening and I'm going to stick around to see it.

Today I woke up knowing my father had a day off. This isn't because he told me or anything. It's just that he usually never stays home at Friday and for the past three days has been at work (in the morning). So after turning off the alarm I walked over to his room and told my sister and him to wake up. Then I went back to my bed because I didn't have to go until 8:00 A.M. However, after 20 minutes my sister came upstairs and told me my dad said to come downstairs. For breakfast, my sister and I had eggs and rice. It was pretty good because for the past few days I've been having "Cinnamon Cereal". Basically, it was good to have something new for a change. My dad told me that I had to take my sister to her bus stop which kind of astonished me because I haven't done that in a while.

Fortunately, nothing bad happened and I was able to reach their 10 minutes before the bus came. We played a game to see who could jump to the other side of the tile (on the floor). In case you don't know I won because of the fact that she's smaller than me. If we were both the same age she probably would have beat me. After coming back home my dad was upstairs in his bed. Since I was all ready for school the thing I did to pass time was use the computer. At 8:00 A.M I grabbed a water bottle and walked out the door (remembering to lock the door). While walking to the stop I saw the bus coming. My first instinct was to run and I got there in time. For some reason, the bus came 5 minutes earlier than usual. That's why only one girl was at the stop when it came.

On the bus, I decided to use my time wisely and read this book called, 'The Three Musketeers". It has about 700 pages and isn't the easiest book in the world. The reason I', reading it is that of a school project. My teacher informed everyone that we had to make 6 groups with 5 people each. Each group would get a random book and have to create a schedule. The schedule was made so that each group member would have a specific time and chapters to read. Every week, one of the group members would finish and present what they read to their group, during lunch. My group consisted of 3 girls and 2 boys (me and another one called "Nabeel"). Eventually, after a few minutes of arguing I was chosen to be the first person (and boy did I argue).

So far I've read 5 chapters and need to finish 2 more. Then on Monday, I present what I've read to my group. Its pretty simple and every group has 19 weeks (2nd to last day of school) to finish the week. The project itself is worth 20% of my grade so as long as I complete it I should be good. I'm trying really hard to memorize everything because my teacher said if you don't present correctly you could receive an immediate zero. Getting a 0% on a 20% worth project isn't exactly on my "to-do list". Because I talked a lot about this I'm going to skim through the day. Social Studies wasn't really that much fun but P.E was. I did some "stepping" which involves may move contributing to the legs, arm, and chest. Lunch was pretty good because I had a butter roll to eat.

Those were the highlights of my day. The only other two periods that were good are Technology and Math. I never say Math so for me to talk about it as a highlight isn't very common. I obviously picked Technology because of the computers but Math was because of the lesson. Today we started a new lesson in Math and I'm starting to learn about it. I feel way more confident in it then my previous lessons and aim to get a better final grade for term 2 since term 1 wasn't the best for me. Anyway, I still have to talk about a story. This one I read was about a shooting thata happened in a school. Apparently, some 12 year old girl had brought a real gun but thought it was fake. She fired the gun and gave 4 people minor injuries. One to the head (didn't die), one to the wrist, and two to the legs. The girl is arrested and the 3 kids as wlel as one teacher are in the hospital. That's all for today.

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Ever since the year has started I've always dreaded having to go to school on Wednesday This is because I have two periods of Math, Health, and no Technology. It's mainly Health and Technology. We have Technology for four days, and as you can already guess today was not one of them. Instead, Health is what replaces Tech Although Health isn't the worst when having no worksheets (today) it still doesn' make up for the fact that Technology gets replaced. I feel that Technology should be every day, though the school has tried to improve that. You see, last year the 6th grade had only two periods of Tech. Besides that, we had a grumpy, old, teacher who almost no one liked. The only way you could possibly not hate her is if you do everything right (not a lot of those people).

Anyway, I'm going to start off with the beginning of the way and only stop to talk about "highlights" (if you can even call it that). The first period was Social Studies and my teacher talked about "Abraham Johnstone" and how he was hanged after prison. Like I said yesterday, no one knows whether or not he was innocent or not. Either way, "Abraha Johnstone" knew he wasn't going to be saved by anyone so he just gave up life. My teacher talked about the letter he had made to his wife "Sally" and how passionate it was. The letter was filled with just great vocabulary and perfect grammar. And he was able to do this yet black (my teacher was not trying to be racist, when he said that he meant the white people who essentially "downgraded him because of his skin color).

Community Circle wasn't interesting at all. The dean talked about uniforms but that was it Afterward, a few 6th-grade classes did their cheer and two of them were really good. There was one that I couldn't even hear because the kids singing were not loud (supposed to "project") and the other 7th and 6th graders weren't paying attention at all. After Community Circle was Lunch and it was too cold outside. That was why my class went into the Technology room and got to play on the computers until it was time to go downstairs to the cafeteria. It was a very fun experience playing with a few kids "Bullet Force" so that at least I didn't miss the whole experience. What I mean by that is I got to play 15 minutes today and usually I get around 38.

Health class was next and I was not looking forward to it. The teacher came in and said that my class didn't have to do any worksheets. I was pretty happy because whenever we don't have worksheets it's usually a video, and I sure was right. Since my class is on Stress the teacher wanted to talk about Meditation. I for one already know a thing or two about it, or at least should because I'm from a country where meditation is very high. The video we watched was a guy named, "Andy Puddicombe" who is the owner of "HeadSpace". Headspace is an app that helps you through meditation and supposedly makes you calmer. Andy Puddicombe is technically the "founder" of "Headspace" and is right now a millionaire. After watching two videos about him my teacher showed the 3rd one "guiding" us through the meditation process.

Every time I go on the "Suggested for You" page it has a lot of "Kpop". That why this paragraph is going to be about it. Kpop stands for "Korean Popular Music" and is heavily known in America as well as Asia. I don't think any other continent knows very much about it. Kpop uses dance moves and music from all around the world and is very much favored as "South Korean Pop". Besides that, Kpop is very modern nowadays and you never really see any "old western" themed music videos. Just to let you know, I don't think there are any Kpop stars by themselves. With that being said, a Kpop band is filled with either all boys or all girls. Apparently, one gender can't join the other's group. Maybe that's not true but from what I've heard it seems like it. There is this one crazy BTS (Kpop group: all boys) fangirl in my class that wishes to be a part of them but can't because she's a girl (what she told me). That is it for today's post!

Today was Gifted and Talented and P.E! I was really excited about this while getting ready for school. Unfortunately, my mother could not be in the morning to drop my sister so my aunt said she would do it. I decided not to take a shower because my dad said it wastes too much money. Instead, I just washed my face a lot more and wet my hair (in order to brush it again). For breakfast, I made me and my sister some "Cinnamon Cereal". I told her that I didn't make it for her (lied) and she got really upset. My excuse was that she never makes it for me, which by the way is true, and she yelled at me. Eventually, my sister said sorry after seeing how I actually did make it and left to go to her bus stop with my aunt. I could understand where she was coming from considering how I usually get mad at her too.

At 8:00 A.M I put on my jacket, locked the door behind me, and ran to my bus stop (while making sure to be careful in case of slipping). There were two girls who got there before me but I was 3rd place. The other kids at the bus stop (who were 6th grade) came a few minutes later. I was wondering where the bus was because it took longer than usual. However, I started seeing it down the street and got ready to get inside. While on the bus I started re-reading the chapter of my book called, "Christmas Eve". Today I was supposed to take the quiz but didn't (will explain later). The first period was Social Studies and I honestly forgot what the teacher was talking about. Oh wait for nevermind, we reviewed a letter made by a former slave called, "Abraham Johnstone".

Apparently, the man had made the letter right before getting hanged in a courtyard at the prison. This happened in 1797, the man was convicted of murder and to this day no one knows whether it was true or not. In the letter he wrote to his wife Abraham says he is innocent but is ready to quit this world. Then, in the letter, he writes his will, basically what he gives to certain people. It seems really sad if he was actually innocent and someone framed him. And just so you know, this happened during the American Revolution, where slavery was growing massively and everyone wanted some black slaves to work for them. After Social Studies was P.E! My class started our Fitness Tests and today we did the Push-Ups and Sit-Ups.

I know I definitely didn't do the best but improved greatly! Last year I had gotten around 10 Sit-Ups but this year I got around 36. The pushups were the same old same old. Just minor improvement, today I just did an extra 2 pushups which when you really think about is basically nothing. I'm going to skip Lunch because we didn't even go outside anyway. The technology class was a really good period because there was only a small assignment given. It took approximately 5 minutes to complete and I spent the rest of my time playing, "Bullet Force" with my friends. Once class ended most of the students left. However, I had Gifted and Talented and stayed here. It was a fun period because my team was building some type of park. I genuinely enjoyed it and hope to do some more next Tuesday.

The story I read and watched a video about is called, "Self-made billionaire Jack Ma: How to be successful in your 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond". Jack Ma is a "Chinese business magnate", meaning he is the owner of a company, he's Chinese, and is very wealthy. The man has a net worth of around 50. 5 billion dollars! Now, I know I'm the best-looking person out there, but this guy doesn't look "professional" at the very least. The one thing that stands out about him is the small eyes and a weird haircut. Besides that, his shirt and tie make him look, "business-like". Anyway, this post talks about how the man himself states you should "live your life". According to him, when your 20 to 30 the first thing you should do is try and find a good company and learn. Then at 30 to 40 you need to do something yourself because you can still afford to fail. Thw hole age group goes on and on. At 60 years old and higher, you need to stay with your grandkids (thats what he says). Thanks for reading and see you later.

When I woke up my sister told me our mom was sleeping in the bed! We both said hi and then slept for an extra 5 minutes. After that, both of us walked downstairs and started getting ready for school because my aunt and mom were here I could keep on getting ready without having to rush or stop. I tried to make my shower as short as possible while cleaning my hair, head, and chest (mainly). For breakfast, my mother made eggs and bread. It was really good and I genuinely thanked her. At 8:00 A.M I said bye to my mother who was leaving at the same time. She was heading towards Long Island to get back to work. Once getting to class I saw barely any kids there. This was an opportunity I had to take so I ate the breakfast given by the school.

Before the first period started one of my former classmates handed me a piece of paper. Apparently, someone had donated supplies to the "Gifted and Talented" class (I'm in). So we had to write a letter to that person thanking them for the supplies. The first period was Social Studies and the teacher made a few comical jokes. Then he handed everyone a quiz and we were allowed to use notes. I was able to answer the questions and hoping for a good grade. Next, was Science and my teacher wanted to finish our lesson in the textbook (reading). Once the reading was complete he told us to answer 8 questions. Most kids did not finish (me) so he will give us more time tomorrow. Thankfully the questions are going to be a grade.

Lunch was pretty fun with my playing soccer on the left side of the courtyard. Today, the food was a "Cheese Panini" and I really liked it. At first I thought it was egg because of how yellow it was but eventually caught on. While eating my friend and I talked about "Smite". Even though I already play it on the computer, I had decided to download it on the Playstation Four for free. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a computer which is why I'm doing this. However, with the day going good so far, something happened after Lunch ( I was not part of). My teacher picked my class up from Lunch and told us to wait at the end of the hall. Then, whoever was in the front decided to go all the way to the class. I don't know who did that because no one ever admitted it but I'm willing to find out.

The reason it had nothing to do with me is that I was in the back of the line. So I couldn't even see who was caused the problem. That's my defense in case someone for some reason blames it on me. Technology class was just fun all around because there was no assignment given. That meant everyone could just play around with computers. As usual, I played Bullet Force with the other kids and almost on. However, my computer just didn't like me and started lagging. In case you don't know what that means, "Lagging" ( in the gaming sense) is "In online gaming, lag is a noticeable delay between the action of players and the reaction of the server in a video game". Basically meaning, your internet probably sucks.

Today's story is about Fortnite. Fortnite just got a new update with a mode called, "Sniper Shootout". It replaces every weapon in the game with a sniper. Thankfully, the healing items are still available. I wasn't exactly correct when I said that snipers are the only weapons. Revolvers are also able to be used. This way you don't get stuck trying to 1v1 someone at close range with a sniper. It would take a lot of time to do that. However, I feel like his new mode will add another definition of "Sneaky" into the game. When the whole map is filled with long-range weapons people aren't going to try and get at you immediately. You need to have a strategy. Besides that, games will probably last longer because it takes decent aim to kill someone with a sniper. Anyway, that's it for today.

This post will be about what I did yesterday. I woke up at around 7:10 A.M and walked downstairs to brush my teeth. For breakfast, my dad made some egg sandwiches and I ate most of it. That was when I started my homework. I read for 50 minutes but didn't worry about not being able to play because it was the weekend. The reading didn't take too long and I was able to finish the post in around 30 minutes. After finishing homework my dad asked my sister and I if we wanted to go outside. Of course, she said yes, but I was still thinking about it. Eventually, I just said yes so no one would get mad. Once we finished putting on our sweaters and jackets all three of us hopped into the car and drove to Newport Mall.

While in the car my sister and I played a game of cards and it was actually pretty fun. I won but only because I cheated (told her that after coming back home). When the car was parked my father wanted to check "Bed Baths And Beyond". I hate that store because he always takes a long time to the browser but yesterday wasn't so bad. We looked at a few paintings and joked around. At Newport Mall, my dad wanted to get my sister some shoes. We went to "JcPenny" but had no luck. Then we arrived at "Payless ShoeSource" and found one pair. Unfortunately, my sister didn't like them and made up some lie to not buy them. I was shocked to find out my dad didn't see through her plan but said nothing about it. The last store we arrived at was "Kohl's".

Some of the shoes we saw were just plain bad. Like this one pair of sneakers were light up and had a "Wonder Woman" logo on it. But that wasn't what made it so bad. The fact that when you pressed the light up button you couldn't turn it off right away. Instead, you had to go through 10 other light combinations before returning to nothing. And guess what I also found? Right next to it was another pair of sneakers, the exact type but instead of "Wonder Woman" it had "Super Man". It was a horrific sight so to see my sister not even see it was great for me. We went to 3 stores to find a pair of sneakers for her but at the end of the day, she didn't want anything. The one pair she actually did like was too colorful for the school.

My dad asked my sister and me if we wanted to go to the 3rd floor and eat some food. I obviously said yes because the food at Newport Mall is pretty good! Although the "Subway" was tempting I decided to go to Panda Express. They have so many good Asian foods like noodles, fried rice, egg rolls, and ORANGE CHICKEN! I capitalized the "Orange Chicken" because it's really good. However, not as good compared to the "General Tso Chicken back near my house. Yesterday I wanted to try something different so I had some "Grilled Teriyaki Chicken". The lady handling the food asked if I wanted some sauce. I honestly did want some but was so surprised by the question that I said no. At that point, it seemed weird to change my answer since she was helping another customer.

That was pretty much what I did yesterday. After getting the food all three of us ate it and went back home. My dad wanted to go to the library and get some books. I wasn't very happy about this idea so when I realized the parking lot at the library was fully I got really happy. We had to go back home and my dad lets me use my Playstation Four for the rest of the day. I went into the Science section and found a story talking about the flu. The title is, "The Flu Can Kill Tens of Millions of People. In 1918, that's exactly what it did". This really worries me because in the post it says around 600,000 people have died in one year because of the flu. And now that the flu is getting worse this is a real issue.  I hope this isn't like the "Black Death" which almost wiped out a whole country! Anyway, thats my post for today.

I didn't want to have to do this but writing five paragraphs worth of Google News would take too long. Instead, I'm going to summarize this book called, "Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry". The book also has a "Newbery Medal" so it must be pretty good. The "New York Times Book Review" has written, "Mildred D. Taylor writes not with rancor or bitterness of indignities, but with pride, strength, and a respect for humanity". There are many other reviews from websites like "Booklist" and "Kirkus Reviews" but this was the shortest one. Mildred D. Taylor has made other books such as "The Friendship" and "The Gold Cadillac" as well.  The introduction was made by "Jacqueline Woodson" who is another one of my beloved authors, who talks about how this book reminds her of her childhood. Anyway, lets start summarizing the book!

Cassie (the main character) and her brothers are heading towards school, which is an hour long walk from their house. However, they don't get very far with one of the brothers (Nickname: Little Man) not wanting to get his shoes dirty on the dirt road. You see, Cassie and her brothers are black and this story takes place in a time where white people were treated superior and black people were apparently, not even human. While walking 2 boys join the little group, "T.G." and "Jeremy". Unlike the rest of them, Jeremy is white but still wants to hang out. He doesn't have any friends in his own school and hates his two brothers. His sister isn't that bad treats black people like trash. Once Cassie, Stacy (brother), Little Man, and Christopher (brother) get to school they say bye and head to their specific classes.

Stacy has his mother as his teacher so he feels like school isn't going to be the best year. Once school is finally over their mother starts getting mad about the textbooks given to their black school from the "Board of Education" and how they're ruined. She decides to fix them for her students but is warned by one of her fellow teachers at the all-black school. Back home Cassie and her brother complain about the all-white school bus and how they get their clothes dirty. Little Man angrily asks why they don't have a school bus for their school and the mother simply answers, "There isn't enough money". The next day Harlan Granger (owner of the land they have) talks about how he wants it back. Unfortunately for him, the family refuses to sell it and he leaves.

Google News

I have decided to stop here and continue whenever I feel like it. However, I want to talk about Google News right now. I want to talk about Overwatch and Fortnite because they have the most interesting "stories" in the "suggested for you" column. Overwatch's story is about the upset from fans who support the "best" teams. So far, "Seuol Dynasty"
, "New York Excelsior", and "London Spitfire" are the best teams or on the top of the leaderboards. Just yesterday, Shanghai Dragons (my favorite team) did not win but they did get one point of the four matches. This shows a massive improvement from my favorite team and I hope they can get at least in the top five of the teams. That way I won't feel like I wasted points on them.

Now, this other story is about Fortnite. Fortnite has been having many issues with getting into the game and inviting your friends. Which leads me back to yesterday's story about Paragon. They are going to shut down Paragon when the reason they're doing it doesn't even work that way. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense shutting down one game for another game that is still in beta! Its honestly really weird and I don't think what they did was smart. Fortnite is an amazing game but if it continues having issues with logging in then it won't be great for long. Though yesterday they added a new update! The new item is called, "Chug Jug" and it is a consumable. That means you have to drink it. The "Chug Jug" takes 15 seconds to use but restores full health and full shields! Today's post is finished, see you next time!

This weekend was like an epic study moment session where I just spent all of my time just practicing for the ELA EOY, the Math EOY, and the...
