This story was occurred in Tibet before I was born and I have heard this incredible real story from my parents when I was in third grade. I have amazed and shocked that literally almost disbelieved that such sad a story happened to a Tibetan family in a village northeast Tibet Amdo.
Pema and her family was lived in a beautiful village surrounded by mountains, forest and frond of village was planted hundreds of oat frees, flowers and all kinds of brushes and most importantly in the brush a crystal clear stream flows all seasons without stopping and it has been then lifeline to not only Pema's village but also shared other villages in the valley.
While Pema was little. She had a perfect life, a family of four including herself. Her mother and father worked as farmers and her brother would always help them. However Pema had dream one day she be able to go to school and live in big city. She did not appreciate the works that her parents used in order to keep a stable life. While Pema was six years old. One summer, a horrific landslide occurred because of month long non-stopping rain. Whole entire villages was smashed and washed away one evening and it destroyed everything. Luckily she and her neighbors were able to clear out the piles of relentless mud and frees without anyone getting hurt. I sure would be happy if I survived that.
You see nowadays foreigners would usually climb this mountain in hopes of reaching the top and with one more move a pile of rocks and snow crashed down to the village, but that wasn't the end. The force of that one mountain was so great that it made every other one come down. People screamed for their lives. Parents hugged there children for safety. Many other tried to run down the path to the nearby city. Pema and her family were too confused to move. They made a plan to go to a nearby cave and wait, so thats what they did, or at least tried to do. The mother was the first to go down. "Please, just take the children to safety!". Without further ado the dad and children went inside.
When the dad looked outside to make sure it was okay a ginormous rock fell on top of him. It was his exact size! He didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to his own kids. That was how sad it was. The girl and boy decided to leave the village and enter the city because there was nothing useful back here. When they arrived at the city the kids didn't know what to do. The place was full of people who had no worry or complaints. After a while of thinking the kids decided to go around the city and see what they could find. Fortunately for them as soon as they turned the corner there was a homeless food shelter. First of all Pema and her brother had to think about it. The two of them weren't exactly homeless, but there parents have both died. Of course they went in anyway.
When they got inside a lot of adults looked him. Some were questioning why they were here. Other just continued eating and talking with friends. It really was a food fest. Cans of beans and trays were piled on the table and the trash was full of rice and potatoes. Suddenly a woman about the age of 30 walked in front of them. "Who are you and what are you doing?". "I don't think thats very nice of you is it? To not let me talk first?". "Oh please kid, just tell me your reason". So Pema and her brother told her everything. She started moving back and then reaching for the kids" I'm sorry for you two. Let me hook you up with my speciality, bean soup!". One of the people in the background said "Oh Please, your bean soup is horrible, these two kids will probably die just eating that!
5 years later......
After Pema and her brother left the food shelter they met a man who said he could hook them up with some school. Of course Pema declined his offer, but her brother didn't. So the two of them started school together and were put in the same class. The two even moved to America! Their they met a woman who could teach them English. She realized her mistake to never underestimate hard work and dedication especially to her parents. The brother actually went to Chicago while she went to Miami. I would rather go to Miami because of the beaches and nice breeze. Its mostly sunny there too which really makes the sky nice and blue. She even graduated from college. Every night she would go and think about talking to her parents. Telling them all her accomplishments. For the rest of her life she made new friends and had lots of fun!
