oday was a special day. Well not really special, but exciting. Today was the day for my 6th grade’s field trip. The field trip is about learning more about the Holocaust. I have told you numerous times in the other posts. Either way when I woke up a light was coming from downstairs and every room upstairs was dark. Thats why I went downstairs and realized my sister was already getting ready for school and my dad was helping her. Unfortunately my mom went to work last night so I wasn’t able to see her.
After I finished brushing my teeth it was time to put on my school clothes. Since today was the field trip the school wanted every student to try and wear the “fancy” school uniform. There are three different types of uniforms at our school. Casual, Gym, and Fancy. Fancy is basically a light blue button up t-shirt with khaki pants and a tie. The only problem I had was a tie because during all my other grades we never wore ties. Thats why my father had to put it on for me, which doesn’t give me any shame.
At school we were getting ready to go to the field trip. Suddenly my friend gave me some amazing news. The field trip was being placed at a movie theater! I mean can you believe that. The only problem was that the high school kids were making too much noise. Yes, I said “high school kids”. The field trip was for more than just ours. It was for 6th grade to high school. so 7th, and 8th graders were also there. At the movie theater we got to watch a French movie with English subtitles.
The movie was actually pretty good wether you think so or not. It described the life of a Jewish girl and what she had been through. The movie was based on an autobiography. At the end of the story the girl and her Jewish friends made it to Switzerland and were free from Jewish persecution. I feel happy for them and lucky that I have not been through what they experienced. Having to be scared and go into hiding at all times. Never knowing what could happen or knowing about what would happen to them.
After the movie a woman went to the front and another woman joined her. The second woman was a child at the time of the Holocaust and luckily made it to the United States. However many kids and adults couldn’t make it. When the woman was finished talking all the kids went back to buses and to the school. While on the bus I tried to sleep, but couldn’t. Thats why I played truth or dare with my friends and talked about what we’ve been doing. The End
