Today is my first day of Summer Break and I'm hyped! No more school for another 2 months! Just think of all the time I have to just relax, not have to worry about test grades and homework, as well as practice Soccer so I can try out next year for my school. The position I want to play is either Striker or Goalie. Everyone knows what the goalie is but let me tell you for the sake of it. The goalie is the person who decides whether the enemy team gets a goal. It is their job to block the ball from entering the goal and sometimes they can feel lots of pressure. Basically, they are the game-changers. Most people don't want to be goalie but I know that I'm definitely not bad compared to the others Soccer players in my school. If I was against 15 years old it would be too hard so thankfully I'll be at an even playing field. The other position I want to play if goalie doesn't work for me is a striker. They are the people that stay in the front lines to shoot the ball into the goal.
Kind of ironic right? You know, because a Striker is supposed to kick the ball into the goal and the goalie tries to block the ball from entering the goal.
Anyway, let me tell you what I did yesterday. The first period was Science but since it was the last day of school the teachers didn't want us to have classes. Instead, I just watched a dumb movie with my friends and it wasn't good at all. It was about a kid and his friends who are going to college and try to enter the "College X Games", but then his father enters the college too because he lost his job. So things go super awkward for the kid, eventually, they learn to respect each other and his father graduates after his first year since the guy already did 3 years of college back when he was still young. While the movie was playing my teacher asked anyone whether they wanted to help clean up the gym with the teachers since it was a total mess. I volunteered with a couple other folks but when we got there everything was already clean.
At recess, I headed over to the field with the rest of the 7th grade and waited for my friend to bring the Soccer Ball. After a couple of minutes, my ELA teacher came and said he wanted us to shoot penalty kicks at the goal while he played goalie. I wished that he would let me try goalie so I could practice but no. So instead, I got my revenge by making a shot that he just wasn't ready for. I went about 10 feet away from the ball and then got a running start. Afterward, right before I kicked the ball I shifted my left foot in the direction of the soccer goal and moved the way I kicked the ball from the top of my shoe to the laces that way it would give a sort of spin at the ball, this is a move called the "Curve Ball" where the ball spins midair and starts to move in the opposite directions. Basically, it's used to confuse the goalie and is extremely difficult to pull off.
Soccer takes lot's of technique and skill involved with it, so when I scored the shot everyone behind me was like "OHHHHHHH" and I felt super good. Then the rest of the kids got a chance and we did an actual game. It was pretty fun and deeply enjoyed it. Community Circle came next and the dean gave three kids an award for expressing the "core values" of Beloved. I thought this was pretty stupid since the only way you could actually get the award is if you personally know the dean yourself. Finally, the dean wanted to say goodbye to all the students and the teachers started handing people their report cards. My teacher wanted everyone to take a picture in memory of this day so we all stood under the basketball net and made some silly faces. And that was my last day of school! Hope you enjoyed.
