Book summery Spirit Animal

I’ve read most of the books in the “Spirit Animal” series but I’ve never known the backstory of the four fallen. Or the humans that “co-exist” with their very own Great Beasts. At least in the first series. Obviously, in the second series every Great Beast has their own human partner but back then it was only Briggan, Essix, Jhi, and Uraza. And they lived and fought with Conor, Rollan, Meilin, and Abeke. In today’s post I am going to be talking about how each of these four came to have their very own spirit animal (especially Great Beasts) and how their life transitioned from there. Starting with Abeke, she used to live in a small village in Nilo with her sister and father. Abeke’s father always loved her sister but never Abeke, she was always seen as disrespectful and unordinary. The day of the nectar ceremony (where humans drink Ninana’s nectar to see if they get a spirit animal), Abeke brought an antelope as an offering to celebrate it.

She knew her chances were low of actually getting a spirit animal for herself but she still wanted to have some part in it. However, her father and the rest of his staff were surprised and horrified that she brought a dead animal’s body to a ceremony. They took it away and gave Abeke the clay pot she made a while back (which was apparently what they were supposed to hold while drinking the nectar). Abeke said that it looked ugly and didn’t with her outfit but decided not to argue. It was time for the ceremony and Abeke was the last person to walk up. When she drank the nectar it seemed to her like any other soup she drank for dinner and was skeptical that they gave her this instead of actual nectar. But, to her surprise a sudden flash of lightning came upon the ground and after a few seconds she noticed a creature behind her, it was Uraza the great beast!

Everyone in the village was shocked, and a woman took her to the side. It was a greencloak! Her name was Lenori and she was about to say something when a man behind her knocked Lenori out. Then, he said that his name was Zerif and he wanted to talk to Abeke and her father about the importance of this event. Inside his father’s hut Zerif was able to persuade her father that Abeke needed to join with Zerif and the rest of the Greencloaks to keep her protected. Her father bought this and told Abeke that this was for her own good. Abeke, had a hint of suspicion but decided that it must have been for the greater good. She she went along with Zerif and said goodbye, thinking that her father probably just didn’t want her to be a bad omen around the village. Everyone knows that Zerif is a bad person know but back then he was seen as anyone else. That is it for today’s post.
