During ELA class my teacher was talking about the PARCC and why it's so important that we need to finish this curriculum. She said that in order for you to get into these good high schools if you don't pass the PARCC it certainly will not look good on your record. You will have to take the same class all over again for college credits and everyone already knows that's going to be a drag. In case you don't know what college credits are they are basically "points" (as I would like to call them) that by the end of your college years let you graduate, you need to have a certain amount of points.
So starting in High School to get some of those points will be phenomenal to people that are able to get them. And since we are in the advanced class it is expected that we do indeed pass the PARCC and get some of these College credits. I would like to say that everyone who is in the advanced class this year should go to the college because if you just want to pass High school than you certainly wouldn't try at all and probably be barely passing.
And almost half the class never even gets honor roll more than two times and likely won't get it this year at all (considering how they bumped up the standards so that you need a B+ in everything in order to get honor roll), but that doesn't mean that we aren't part, and a lot of high schools will see that although we don't have the grades to prove it just yet you are in the class and the stuff that your taking is going to be more advanced. Anyways, on the PARCC in order to pass you need to get at least a 4 and last year I got a 4 and 5 on the Math and ELA. My ELA was really god and I personally am surprised just how good I was at it.
However, it seems that if you got a 4 my teacher is trying to get you to a 5 and if you got a 5 you need to either get a higher version of that 5 or maintain your grade. There was this one kid in my class who got like a level 3 on both and I feel bad, but those people that got 3's are probably the easiest to improve because they are starting from a low standpoint and will need to learn less to at least get a 4. That's basically the goal, just improve from what you originally got during the last PARCC.
The only thing I'm worried about is whether or not I will pass my math PARCC because for me that was a rough year. I never really did good as soon as 7th grade hit. My Math was excelling in the 6th grade and that was exactly how I got into the advanced class. Just seems king of contradicting how the reason I got in is probably going to be the reason why I get out. Hopefully, I can pull my own weight and pass, honor roll seems like a stretch considering the standards, it's all about the PARCC scores. No one is going to care if you got Honor Roll besides your parents.
