Today I want to talk about the book, “The Darkest Minds”, or more so the movie. I watched it yesterday, a day after it came out and I was surprised that the seats weren’t full by the time I got there. Did no one want to watch the movie? Because I certainly did! Anyway, I’m going to give the book a 8/10 rating because I just really hate the ending. Now I know the book has the same ending but it just felt so unsatisfying and mean to the audience. I hated the fact that Ruby decided to erase Liam’s memories of her because she knew that he wouldn’t leave without her. I just feels so wrong! Why did she have to do that! Now it feels like the whole point of the movie just went to waste. It’s like they never knew each other in the first place, and all the events that took place after meant nothing. I know that Zu and Chubs will probably get really confused and tell Liam he’s crazy but eventually they’ll realize that Ruby erased his memories.
Wait a minute, Ruby never told Chubs or Zu about her ability to erase memories. Just the fact that she could mind control other people to do what she wanted them to do. So that’s means that they’ll always be confused until they somehow happen to run into Ruby again, which I completely doubt because Ruby was no forced to work with the Children’s League in exchange for Liam to be safe and leave. I’m one hundred percent going to read the second book of the series just to see how this goes since I already know that both Zu and Chubs will be in it. Now, some things that I didn’t exactly like but can understand about the movie was that it skipped so many events and scenes. Everything just happened so fast and I didn’t typically enjoy looking at the actor they picked to play Ruby as a child. No offense, but she didn’t look the best.
Now let me talk about what else I did besides watch the movie. After it was done I asked my mom if she could drop me off at Journal Square with one of her taxi friends. While I was waiting for the taxi I tried going to eat McDonalds but when I used my Big Mac coin they didn’t accept. There was a sign that said that there were no more Big Mac Coins but I assumed that meant they had no more to give I didn’t know it meant you couldn’t use it. So I felt kind of stupid when leaving the place with no food. The taxi driver picked me up and dropped me off at the train station. I have him 10 dollars and a 2 dollar tip since that’s what my mom told me to do and then said bye. In all I thought it was a pretty good day, I got to watch the movie I wanted and get fresh air.
