This is going to be my last post talking about this movie because I'm pretty much finished with it. After the incident with the part where Kotler accidentally tells Bruno's mother how the Germans were killing the Jews with the crematorium and where their smoke is coming from she starts to scream at her husband. They get into a whole conversation and the father makes the excuse that this is all for the better of Germany but the mother knows that this is definitely not the way that they should be dealing with this. At dinner time, the whole family, including grandfather come and the whole time the wife is just staring at Ralf with hatred. 

Soon enough, grandfather tells Bruno that school is good for them and that history used to be his favorite subject. However, the conversation switches takes a turn because the grandfather asks Kotler where his parents are. Kotler says that he doesn't know about this mother but his father left the country a while ago before the whole hatred towards the Jews happened. Afterwards, Ralf tries to expose him and asks where his father is and why exactly he left. 

Kotler tries to be quick and say that his father left to Switzerland and Ralf could tell that he was lying. Then, starts to question him even further by asking why his father left. Kotler doesn't respond for another 15 seconds and then Ralf pushes further saying that if his father had left because of political reasons that Kotler would have told the government on him. Kotler starts to sweat and its nervous because everyone is staring at him. 

However, he uses the fact that Pavel (old Jew who Bruno has be-friended) accidentally bumps into his cu of wine and it spills on the floor. Then, he starts to beat up the old Jew with anger and the next day no one has seen Pavel. Everyone in my class was extremely sad because the old man was probably dead. Then, Bruno finds out that the person who they hired to replace Pavel was actually Shmuel. 

He is delighted because now he has someone to play with in the house and actually gives some food to the boy because he notices that Shmuel is hungry. However, Kotler comes in and finds out that they have been talking to each other. He gets pissed and tells Bruno if he gave it to him, Bruno lies and says he never gave anything because he was scared and then Shmuel gets beat before heading back to the camp.
