Today's post is going to be about the dragon pearl which is this book that my dad got me for my birthday and that I have been dying to read. The reason that I have been dying to read this book is because it is about Asian mythology, what I don't know is whether it's Japanese or Chinese, I'm pretty sure it's not South Korean but who knows. Anyways the protagonist of this story is Min and she lives with her family on a planet called, "Jinju" which is definitely small and not widely habited. Her whole family are fox spirits and in the society around them most people think that the foxes have disappeared and went missing long ago. Although it's not like if you see one you'll be surprised.
Probably shocked is the better word, since they have been known in society as tricksters and bad people, although unlike other spirits they can use charm and change the way people's motion feel and shape shift into different animate or inanimate objects. Dragons are the ones that actually create the worlds in which people live but it takes many years for a group of them to make one from scratch, goblins are known for strong magical power and the ability to have wands that can do many important things, including an invisibility cap.
Tigers are ferocious and are extremely vicious but they can have temper issues. And finally there are humans who are just humans and nothing more, the society all thought that it was just better if the creatures all just shape shift into humans that way giant dragons wouldn't overload the cities, and tigers wouldn't scare the humans. The goblins just have little horns on their foreheads to indicate they were indeed goblin. I don't know about dragons but Tigers have amber eyes that can be sometimes be a dead goodbye.
In all of these creatures they can only shape shift into humans and back, foxes are the only ones that can change into anything with he right amount of strength and manipulate emotions into things you wouldn't believes. For Min and her family they all live in Jinju so that o one can find out about where they are, since Jinju isn't exactly the most popular space to live. One day, an investigator comes into the house and talks with his mom not knowing that she and the rest of the family are foxes.
Apparently, Min's brother who had joined the elite space forces had deserted the place with a group of other people in search of the Dragon Pearl. Min knew this was probably because Jun wanted to restore Jinju into a great place that everyone could enjoy and this would be the starting point. The Dragon Pearl can make a whole planet with trees and air in just one day which is a huge feat and the dragon community would personally pay a heavy sum for it. Mercenaries everywhere are trying to find this pearl and wiling to give it up for the highest bidder. But something doesn't seem right, why would Jun leave the place where he had dreamed of going to as a little kid?
