The pyramids of Egypt are very special because they are one of the seven wonders of the world. However the largest pyramids of Egypt were believed to be called “Giza Pyramids”, and the one man who created these ginormous structures was called “Khufu”. Khufu was the Pharaoh of the 4th dynasty and is very famous. However not much information is known about him. Khufu’s full name is known as “Khnum Khufu” and he reigned for approximately 24 years. Khufu was a great leader and by the records his time being Pharaoh was filled with prosperity.
Khufu’s Family?
Khufu did marry if thats what your thinking. He was believed to have three wives. However the one wife that is actually known is called “Meritites”. Her name means “Beloved of Her Father” and was buried in the middle of the Queen’s pyramid in Giza. She was an ancient Egyptian Queen of the 4th dynasty. Meritites did have children with Khufu just like the other two wives. The number of children he has in total with all three wives is 11. Now thats a huge number. Nowadays a lot of kids is around 3. Two of his children were Pharaohs just like him. “Khafra” and Djedefre”. Khafra was Djedefre were both male and amazing kings. Khafra even thought to be the the face on the Sphinx. I wonder why all the other Pharaohs didn’t so the same. Either way the rest of his sons and daughters were viziers, Queens, or Princes.
How and When did Khufu become Pharaoh?
Reason as to why Khufu became Pharaoh was because he filled his father, Sneferu, to the throne. He became Pharaoh at 2598 B.C and ended his reign in 2566 B.C. Most people only remember him because he was the one who built the “Great Pyramid of Giza”. During his time of reign the only real accomplishment he had made during his time was the “ Great Pyramid of Giza”. Scholars say he must have been a great leader or at least have lots of leadership to be able to control this construction. which by the way used 2.3 million blocks and was made by the common people of Egypt.
How did Khufu have an Impact on Egyptian Civilization?
As we already said his greatest accomplishment was the pyramid of Giza. Historical records show many theories about the way Khufu acted. Many people believe he was a cruel leader and vicious, however I find that very hard to believe considering the fact that he was able to build this massive pyramid. Of course he could’ve just forced the people to build it for me. Then again some people think he was a good natured Pharaoh who followed many traditions, and I believe that too.
